Tim Curry brought remarkable talent, and versatility to a wide range of roles throughout his distinguished career. He is perhaps best known for his iconic portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a performance that continues to be celebrated by audiences around the world.

Andrew Carter (1939-2026) was a choral conductor and composer. He came from a family of bell ringers, studied the organ and piano at university before joining the choir at York Minster in the early 60s. He founded Chapter House Choir whom he directed for 17 years!

If you want to borrow any of his pieces for yourself, visit the Showroom or reserve on your Hertfordshire library card.

George Butterworth (born 1885) was famous for composing music such as ‘The Shropshire Lad’ and ‘On the Banks of Green Willow’.

However, Butterworth was not just a composer, he also visited the English countryside to collect folksongs with Ralph Vaughan-Williams, was a professional Morris dancer and a founder member of the English Folk Dance and Song Society. He later fought in World War One and was awarded a Military Cross. He died in the Battle of the Somme in 1916 aged 31.
