1st Wem Scout Group

This week 1st Wem marked “Love your burial ground week” at Whitchurch Road Cemetery.
We were able to help out with a number of tasks usually carried out by a small volunteer group.
The Beavers learned about the wonderful flora on the site and spruced up the Bug Hotel
The Cubs planted more snowdrop bulbs amongst other tasks.
The Scouts did a large array of tidying jobs; sweeping the front, tidying one of the Eckford family graves, clearing brambles etc.
The Explorers painted a large section of new fencing and provided some planters for the marker stone for all of the children buried in the cemetery.

A great job all round…thanks to all those who helped, and those who help keep this amazing place going year round 👏

Congratulations to our older Scouts for completing their expedition this weekend; 15 miles hiked with full kit, navigating and camping overnight by themselves, with minimal leader interaction.
They laughed their way through the weekend and smashed it 👊

Our Scouts all had a great time Rock Climbing and Abseiling over the last couple of weeks at Grinshill with our amazing county climbing team.
A great adventure and some fears conquered, well done all for getting stuck in 👍

Well done to five of our older Scouts who hiked over 7 miles on Saturday, carrying full kit as a practice for their expedition challenge.
They packed, hiked, navigated and camped on their own, with minimal input from the leaders…they were sore, especially after an unplanned detour at Grinshill 🤣 but did really well and are ready for their final expedition in a few weeks.

Tesco Stronger Starts, blue token scheme!

This looks like a great weekend for anyone who wants a taste of the great outdoors and some of the things we get up to when we go on camp. Kibblestone is one of our favourite sites!

Chill time with your family is precious.

Come and spend a family weekend camping, with activities for all ages and wellbeing sessions for everyone. Plus the fantastic Meadow Care Farm, wonderful countryside and great company.

This weekend we visited the beautiful Cox Wood Scout Camp, near Wrexham.
Our Scouts all slept in hammocks, braving the somewhat chilly night, and had a blast.
Our Explorers learned different survival skills, and slept in the shelters they made.
We were blessed with amazing weather, and had so many laughs along the way…must get some Sumo Suits for our group🤣
