🦋 Happy National Volunteers Week! 🦋

Today we’re saying a HUGE thank you to all of our incredible volunteers and Library Friends who support Sandwell Libraries. Your time, energy and kindness make a real difference in our communities, and we appreciate you more than words can say.
Last week, we teamed up with local charity SCVO to celebrate the amazing people who help others. School children, local groups and library customers joined us to create colourful “thank you” butterflies, each one recognising someone who does something kind, helpful or hopeful in their community.

Have you spotted them fluttering around Wednesbury and Smethwick Libraries?
They’ll be on display all week, bringing a burst of colour and gratitude to our spaces.
To every volunteer: thank you for everything you do.
You help our libraries and our communities thrive. 💜

📚 Another gripping read for our David Baldacci fans!

This week we’re spotlighting Dream Town, a fast‑paced, atmospheric thriller that drops you straight into the glamour and grit of 1950s Hollywood.
Private Investigator and Second World War veteran Aloysius Archer is back, and this time he’s pulled into a case that takes him from the bright lights of LA’s golden age to its darkest corners. What begins in the world of movie stars, luxury mansions and red‑carpet sparkle quickly spirals into something far more dangerous.

Archer’s investigation drags him through:
✨ The glitz of Bel Air and Beverly Hills
🌴 The canyons and beaches of Malibu
🌆 The shadowy narcotics clubs of Chinatown
🎰 And all the way to Las Vegas — just beginning its rise as a celebrity playground and mob powerhouse

Along the way he crosses paths with Hollywood icons, crooked politicians, notorious criminals… and more than a few dead bodies. He’ll dodge danger, uncover secrets, and come close to losing his life more than once. It’s Baldacci at his most cinematic.

If you love noir‑style mysteries, old‑school detectives, or thrillers packed with twists, Dream Town is a fantastic pick.
🎟️ And if you haven’t grabbed your ticket yet to see David Baldacci LIVE in Sandwell… don’t wait!

Head to https://www.ticketsource.com/ before they’re gone.
Happy reading — and we’ll see you at the event! 📖✨

🌊✨ The Squabble – Lempen Puppet Theatre Company ✨🌊

FREE family event at Thimblemill Library
Friday 29th May 2026 – 11:00AM & 3:00PM

A tiny patch of sand. Two hands. One big story.

Join us for The Squabble, a beautifully simple and captivating puppet performance where two hands become creatures, characters and emotions. Through playfulness, conflict, chaos and calm, this gentle show explores how we learn to share our space, and each other.
Expect sunshine, sea‑breeze imagination, a little storm, and a whole lot of heart. Perfect for very young children, this warm and poetic performance shows how hands can hug, argue, build, break… and come back together again.
🌟 Free to attend, book here 👉https://www.ticketsource.com/whats-on?q=Thimblemill+library
