481 Sqn has been very busy over the last couple of months! Our latest intake have successfully passed their enrolment and are well on the way to completing their first class. The last intake successfully completed their blue space and Cpl Millinchip and Cdt Slatch passed their bronze wing course. Cdt Elwell passed her leading exams with many more classifications on the way!

To top it off, we attended Wing Athletics where the squadron finished 12th out of the 23 squadrons in the Wing. Sgt Jezierski and Cpl Millinchip have been selected as reserves for the Regional team for U18 boys 800m and U16 boys high jump respectively!

Well done to the huge effort over the last couple of months!

Over the weekend, Sgt Jezierski, Sgt Partridge and Cpl Millinchip attended their SNCO and JNCO courses respectively. These courses are a vital part of a NCOs development and progression through the ranks.

Congratulations are in order as all three NCOs successfully passed their courses!

Last Sunday, Cdt Kiguoya, Cdt Slatch and Cdt Pemhenayi attended at RAF Woodvale where they all had the opportunity to fly in the Viking T1 glider.

Despite quite an intense crosswind, all the cadets managed to attain their Blue Aviation Training Package badge (blue wings). Congratulations!

Congratulations to our last intake who have successfully completed the initial stage of their air cadet training and attained their First Class classification!

Over the last 6 months, led by CI Swift, the cadets have learnt the basics of aviation, map reading, expedition training and much more. Well done all!

Congratulations to Acting Sergeant Hadley who after a Wing board has officially been appointed as an Acting Sergeant! Within this appointment, A/Sgt Hadley will be responsible for drill, discipline, developing our NCO team and much more on the unit.

This is an excellent achievement and we look forward to seeing how the future unfolds!

On the weekend, cadets from 481 (West Bromwich) Squadron attended a Sector 3 Training Weekend held at Sqn HQ. Cadets from across Sector 3 Staffordshire Wing, West Mercian Wing and Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing came together to complete a variety of courses over the weekend.

Congratulations to Cdt Göçgün, Cdt Hothi who have completed their Bronze Youth First Aid course and Cdt Elwell who completed their Bronze Leadership qualification.

Yesterday, 481 Squadron marked the 85th Anniversary of the foundation of the Air Training Corps at two separate events.

The main squadron attended an event organised by 2488 (Kingswinford) Squadron, representing the unit alongside other Sector 3 squadrons, 888 Oldbury Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets and 2132 Sedgley Squadron RAF Air Cadets. Well done all, you represented the squadron proudly!

Meanwhile the OIC, APO Lawton, supported Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing Band at their Wing service at Coventry cathedral.

Well done to all who attended yesterday to mark this important anniversary.

On the weekend, FS Wahid, Cpl Balu, Cdt Dixon and Cdt Adams attended 632 Volunteer Gliding Squadron at RAF Woodvale. Despite the weather, all cadets managed to go gliding and had an excellent time.

Congratulations to Cdt Dixon and Cpl Balu who achieved their Blue Wings.
