883 Postal and Courier Squadron RLC 162 Regiment RLC is a Army Reserve Regiment and is twinned with 29 Regiment RLC. Our primary role is Logistics and Support to the British Army.

162 Regt RLC will continue to carry out the roles formerly undertaken by the two national specialist Regiments: movement control and postal and courier operations. Regimental Headquarters (Nottingham)

A Movement Controller is responsible for assisting in planning, preparation, documentation, coordination and control of military movements in support of operations, exercises and administrative deployments worldwide by road, rail, sea and air. They have good working knowledge of all forms of transport, both military and civilian. They work in conjunction with elements of all services, other government departments, civilian and commercial officials. Movers are employed worldwide, static or mobile, as a team member or individual. As a Postal and Courier Operator you will be responsible for moving Armed Forces mail in peace time and in conflict, collection, sorting and delivering everything from letters send by loved ones to official orders and secret documents. You will play a key role in all British Army Deployments. Postal and Courier Operators are also responsible for delivering mail to the other services including ships at sea.

Our Story

162 Postal, Courier and Movement Control Regiment RLC is based across England. We have Squadrons in Swindon, Marlow, Nottingham, Middlesbrough and Hartlepool.

Formed in 2014 following the disbandment of 162 Movement Control and 88 Postal and Courier Regiments, 162 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps, is a Regional Army Reserve Regiment with the entire Reserve Movement Control and Postal and Courier capability. It is also the Regiment with the responsibility for Civil Engagement in Derbyshire.

Movement Control. Tasked with moving people, supplies, equipment and vehicles anywhere in the world by air, land or sea. The Movement Control trade is a highly demanding role, which requires its soldiers to work in small groups delivering operational effect in pressurised environments. Key enablers to any operational deployment, Movement Controllers feature in all operations and overseas exercises.
