Following last winter’s flooding, we’re already taking action with a £9.25 million programme of recovery and improvements to support affected communities and prepare for more extreme weather in the future.

This includes:
✅£250,000 for extra gully and drain clearing
✅Major repair works across Dorset
✅£456,000 of investment in locations including Cerne Abbas and Godmanstone.

We’re now planning the next step - working closely with communities to understand what happened and make sure we’re better prepared for the future.

Next week, Cabinet will be asked to approve a programme of flood investigations and local reviews, which will:

🔎 Give residents clear answers about what caused the flooding
📍 Identify where improvements are needed most
💬 Ensure local experiences shape future decisions.

Could funding help your community project reach the next level?

Groups can apply for grants of between £1,000 and £25,000 to improve local facilities and spaces. This could be for:

Upgrading village halls and community buildings
Creating play areas, car parks and multi‑use games areas
Improving sports clubs, theatres, pitches and outdoor spaces

Funding is also available for projects supporting climate action, arts, culture, heritage, museums and sports development.

Halloween is a time of celebration and fun for a lot of people, but not everyone feels the same way. Please remember that some people will be distressed by having strangers knocking on their door 🚪

Stick to houses of people you know, or those that are decorated, so you can be more confident the people you visit are welcoming trick-or-treaters 🎃 By doing this you can help Dorset to stay safe this season.

Whether you want visitors or not, head over to our website, link in the comments, to download one of our posters ⬇

Planning a costume for trick-or-treating or a Halloween bash? Instead of buying something new, why not raid your wardrobe for forgotten treasures or your local charity shops?

Old clothes can be transformed into something spooktacular with a little creativity. As well as saving money you’ll have the added benefit of knowing that your costume will be original! There is also a free ‘swap’ rail of Halloween costumes at Bridport Library until 31st October for those living in the area.

We are the only party that can stand up and win against Nigel Farage, Reform and their divisive, populist politics.
