Homes need infrastructure

🏠 Planning for new homes isn't just about housing.

Roads, schools, health services, water, and other infrastructure all need to be considered when planning for the future.

With around 20,000 homes needing to be planned for across Tonbridge and Malling up to 2042, we know residents want to understand how growth can be supported.

The Local Plan provides the framework for making those decisions.

Introducing the Paper Pretenders 🧻

Tissues, wipes and kitchen roll might look like paper, but don’t be fooled, they’re only pretending and don‘t belong in your recycling bin!

Most of them are made of low quality materials that can’t be recycled, and they have likely been used to clean up something a bit gross 🤧

Don’t let them sneak into your recycling bin. The best thing you can do is just pop them in your general waste bin instead! 🗑️

Deputy Mayor Cllr Sarah Hudson joined residents in Wrotham for this year’s Festival of Light, to celebrate a vibrant evening of community, creativity and fun.

Families came together for a colourful street parade and fantastic community spirit for the 12th year of this special event.

The whole village seemed to move to the beat of the Punjabi fusion Dhol drummers and Brazilian inspired musicians. Handmade lanterns made by children from St George’s Primary School helped to illuminate the street during the parade, which was followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

What a great atmosphere - thanks to everyone for coming along and to CohesionPlus for the wonderful photos.

Meet Soft-Plastic Steve!

He might be made of plastic, but he’s the soft, flimsy type that doesn’t belong in your home recycling bin.

Soft plastics can't be recycled in the same way that other plastics like bottles, tubs and trays can, so please keep carrier bags, crisp packets, salad bags, clingfilm and other soft plastic packaging out of your recycling.

If you want to give them a better ending, collect them in one bag and drop them off at a collection point available at most local supermarkets.
