‼️ Canterbury rises to Defend Our Juries ‼️

The proposed removal of jurors from our courts for all but the most serious crimes is a government overreach that risks undermining justice, presented under the guise of reducing the court backlog. This goes against the overwhelming public support for maintaining juries in our justice system.

On 18th May, Canterbury will join the national effort to protect our juries. We will be demonstrating outside Canterbury Combined Court and running an information stall in the High Street. Please join us! 🙏

When: Monday, 18th May
Where:
* 10am – Protest at Canterbury Combined Court, Chaucer Road
* 11am–2pm – “Defend Our Juries” stall outside the Beaney Library, Canterbury High Street

💧 Not Enough Water for New Homes 💧

The water company has said it clearly: There isn’t enough supply for the planned housing growth.

Yet the Local Plan pushes ahead anyway.
Kent is already a water-stressed region — this will make it worse.

Building homes without water isn’t a plan. It’s a risk!

The Local Plan could increase Canterbury’s population by 38%.

That’s:
🚗 More traffic
💧 More water demand
🚽 More sewage
🏥 More pressure on services

All while infrastructure is already struggling.
This isn’t planning. It’s reckless.

​World Bee Day (May 20th) hits differently this year. As the South East begins to bloom into summer, we aren't just celebrating our fuzzy, pollinating friends—we’re celebrating the incredible growth of the Green movement across our region.
​Following our fantastic local election results, our new and returning councillors are hitting the ground running. Just like the bees, we are:
​Pollinating Ideas: Bringing fresh, sustainable solutions to council chambers from Hastings to Reading.

​Building Resilience: Protecting our local biodiversity and green spaces so our communities (and our bees) can thrive.
​Working Together: Rejuvenating our local democracy with hard work and community-led action.
​The elections were just the beginning. This summer, we’re turning that momentum into real policy: better social housing, protected nature corridors, and a South East that puts the planet first.

​For the first time in our history, we have a four-figure army of dedicated Green representatives working in town halls from Cornwall to Cumbria. This isn't just a "protest vote"—it’s a permanent shift in the tectonic plates of British politics.

​The era of "the lesser of two evils" is officially over. As our leadership has made clear, the old two-party system is well and truly broken.
