๐Ÿ“ฃ New swings installed at Jubilee Park - Enjoy Don't Destroy

Weโ€™re pleased to have been able to install new swings at Jubilee Park this week, with the exception of the vandal-resistant basket swing, which we are still waiting to arrive.

Thank you to everyone who has been patient while we have waited for the new equipment to come into stock. We know how frustrating it can be when play equipment is unavailable and weโ€™re working hard to keep our play areas safe, enjoyable and well maintained.

Unfortunately, antisocial behaviour and vandalism remain a significant challenge at Jubilee Park. Replacing damaged equipment takes time and comes at a cost. Keeping up with the speed at which some items are being damaged is a real challenge.

But we wonโ€™t stop. Weโ€™ll continue to invest in our parks and work to provide spaces that our communities can enjoy.

As part of our Enjoy Donโ€™t Destroy campaign, weโ€™re asking everyone to help us look after our parks. If you see damage, vandalism or anything that needs attention, please report it to us. The parks that are best maintained are often those where the local community lets us know about problems quickly.

Thank you for your patience, support and for helping us look after Jubilee Park.

What does devolution mean for our community and why do we need your help? ๐ŸŒณ

As part of the local devolution programme, Weston-super-Mare Town Council is exploring the future of local spaces and services that could come under more local control.

But decisions about community spaces shouldnโ€™t happen without the communities who know and use them. Thatโ€™s where you come in. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

We want to hear your memories, experiences, thoughts and ideas to help us understand what matters to local people and how these spaces and services could best serve the community in the future.

๐Ÿ› Planning the future of play in Weston-super-Mare - Your feedback is helping shape the future of play across our town!

๐Ÿ‘‰ Find out more here: https://wsm-tc.gov.uk/your-council/play-and-sports-strategy/

Over the past few months, many residents have contacted us to tell us about play equipment they would like to see repaired, improved or replaced. Others have shared ideas about where new facilities could be provided or how existing play spaces could be made even better. Thank you!

We genuinely appreciate everyone who takes the time to report issues, share ideas or tell us about their local play area. That local knowledge is incredibly valuable and helps us understand what matters most to our communities ๐Ÿ˜Š

As your Town Council continues to take on responsibility for more community assets through our Devolution Programme and our play portfolio increases, we want to make sure that future investment in play is planned in the best possible way!

Rather than making decisions one play area at a time, we are developing a comprehensive Play and Sports Strategy that will help guide investment over the coming years. The strategy will look at the needs of communities across Weston-super-Mare, assess existing facilities, identify gaps in provision and prioritise where future investment can make the greatest difference. It will also consider future funding opportunities and develop long-term action plans for key sites.

Working alongside independent specialists, Sports and Play Consulting, we are reviewing play areas and free-access sports facilities across the town. This work includes site assessments, mapping existing provision, engaging with stakeholders and developing recommendations that will ensure every pound invested delivers the greatest possible benefit for residents.

This strategy isnโ€™t simply about replacing equipment. Itโ€™s about creating a long-term plan that ensures future investment is based on community need.

If you have ideas or thoughts on this, let us know in the comments and watch out for updates on our website ๐Ÿ˜Š
