TOMORROW MORNING:
INSET Day Classroom Optional Drop-In Session – Friday 4th September 9:00-9:30am

We're really looking forward to seeing the children come back and/or begin their Ashcombe journey after a long, hot summer.

Friday 4th September is an INSET Day, and we are delighted to offer families the optional opportunity to visit school before the start of the new term.

This is a great chance for children to reacquaint themselves with their new classroom, meet their teacher, and catch up with friends ahead of the first day back.

All classrooms will be open from 9:00am to 9:30am, and the session is open to children in all year groups. We hope this informal visit will help children feel settled, confident and excited for the year ahead.

Please see the poster attached detailing where the children’s classrooms are, staff will be on the gates to help if needed.

Really Important Information regarding Free School Meal Eligibility!! Please please read.....

Due to the change in FSM eligibility starting this term (previously emailed to all parents) you will need to re-apply for Free School Meals - If you feel that your child should be in receipt of FSM or has previously been entitled to Free School Meals then you will need to re-apply directly via the FSM checker by registering with the following website and completing the form directly: https://fsm.lgfl.net/

You can complete a Microsoft form here and school will be able to check eligibility on your behalf: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/rrRyBNJTXs?origin=lprLink

If you apply directly to the https://fsm.lgfl.net/ website, you will be given an outcome decision immediately, however, if you complete the form for school to check then this may take a little longer for you to be notified of the result.

If you do not complete this form then you will automatically be placed on Paid School Meals unless your child is in YR - Y2 where Universal FSM are in place.

It was a really emotional end to the day saying goodbye to our Y6s during their guard of honour. Thank you to all the parents, carers and dinosaurs who joined us to greet the children as they walked out. 🥰😍🤩

Reminder for our Year 6 Parents:

A little reminder that our Year 6 Guard of Honour will take place this afternoon.

Mr Penny will be opening the gates at 2:35pm for parents and carers to make their way to the corner of the field. Please ensure you are in position no later than 2:45pm ready for the children to come through.

We look forward to celebrating this special moment with our Year 6 pupils. 😊

You may have seen in the news recently that as of September there are changes to the Free School Meal Entitlement.

This is likely to affect your current application.

Anyone that is already entitled to FSM will need to re-apply via the North Somerset Citizen Portal, as the Local Authority have a new system in place for all applications.

The criteria for entitlement has expanded so that all families in receipt of universal credit will be entitled to receive FSM from September, you will need to apply for this throughout the summer holidays, the portal is not ready for applications as yet and we have been advised that it should be open and ready for your application in August.

Please note - all children in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 receive universal free school meals, however, if you feel you could now receive the benefit related free school meals we do urge you to apply via the website linked above as you may receive additional benefits throughout the year and the school receive additional funding for this

If your child is moving from Year 2 to Year 3 then you will need to pay for meals in September unless you apply and are eligible for FSM.

Year 5 have done the most amazing job of sorting through our Lost Property mound! Anything that has not been able to be reunited with an owner will be displayed outside school (near the allotment) today and tomorrow after school. Please do come and have a look, we are unable to search on your behalf.

Year 3 enjoyed a day out of school earlier this week building sandcastles on the beach, an ice-cream from PJs and lunch in the shade at Grove Park. We also thoroughly enjoyed watching the year 6 leavers production at the Blakehay- parents you're in for a treat, it was amazing 🤩👏
