🌊💨 THE WEATHER HAS TAKEN CENTRE STAGE! 💨🌧️

Sadly, tonight’s Wessex Musical Theatre performance of Sea Breeze & Showstoppers at Nothe Fort, Weymouth, scheduled for 6pm, has been cancelled.

The sea breeze has taken its role a little too seriously — and we’d rather not have our performers, audience, sheet music or set blown into the English Channel! 🌊

Unfortunately, our reserve performance tomorrow has also been cancelled due to the predicted rain. ☔️

All tickets will be refunded via TicketSource today. 🎟️

We’re disappointed not to be performing, but safety comes first. Thank you to everyone for your support, patience and understanding — and to our wonderful performers and crew.

There will be plenty more music, laughter and Showstoppers to come. This is definitely not the final curtain!

As The Longest Yarn 2: Britain at War exhibition leaves Nothe Fort and travels to Welshpool, we're celebrating the incredible volunteers who made it such a success.

From the team creating handcrafted panels, to the stewards welcoming visitors, their dedication and generosity have been at the heart of this remarkable project. Thank you everyone!

Today, on VJ Day, we remember the end of the Second World War and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served and those whose lives were changed forever by conflict.

This knitted scene from The Longest Yarn 2: Britain at War recreates one of the most recognisable images associated with the day, as news of Japan’s surrender broke in Times Square, New York City.

While the original photograph prompts more recent conversations about consent and how we interpret historic moments, it also remains a powerful reminder of the relief, hope, and peace felt by many as the war came to an end.

📢🌒 IMPORTANT ECLIPSE VIEWING UPDATES 🌒📢

• FREE entry, no tickets required. Gates open at 6:30pm.

• Entry is first come, first served and may be restricted if site capacity is reached.

• Approx. 250 pairs of certified solar eclipse glasses available while stocks last.

• Glasses will only be available for visitors viewing the eclipse from Nothe Fort.

• Visitors are encouraged to bring their own certified eclipse glasses where possible.

• If supplies become limited, priority may be given to children, and families may be encouraged to take turns using eclipse glasses.

• Eclipse begins 6:18pm | Maximum eclipse 7:14pm | Ends 8:06pm

• Use of Drones is not permitted. Please do not fly any drones over or around the Fort.

⚠️ Only view the eclipse with proper proper ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses. Ordinary sunglasses are not safe.

Gather with friends and family to enjoy a stunning elevated view of the Solar Eclipse, including the surrounding vista of Weymouth Bay.

😎 Certified Solar Eclipse Glasses available on the day for £1 each - while stocks last. This eclipse will be the closest the UK has been to total coverage of the sun for 27 years, so not one to be missed!
