🚌 MORE BUSES, MORE CONNECTIONS FOR DORSET!

Great news for our towns and villages!
Dorset Council has approved ambitious plans for more than 700 extra bus journeys every week, improved Saturday services and better connections for rural communities.

That could mean easier journeys to work, school, hospital appointments and our local High Streets.

Lib Dem councillor Jack Jeanes, Dorset Council's Cabinet Member for Place Services, has highlighted the importance of better transport in tackling isolation and helping people stay independent.

And a big thank you to Dorset Community Transport and the other local partners helping connect our communities.
The first improvements are planned for summer 2027.

If you're near Weymouth Harbour this evening, you may notice an increased emergency services presence as part of a planned training exercise taking place at North Quay Marina.

Weymouth Harbour, working with DWFireRescue and other partner agencies, will be carrying out a multi-agency emergency response training exercise this evening (Thursday 24 September).

The exercise will take place from 6pm and is expected to last for around two hours.

The scenario will simulate a vessel fire and casualty incident to help emergency services and harbour staff practise their response to a realistic maritime emergency.

During the exercise, residents and visitors may see emergency service vehicles and crews, simulated smoke in the marina, increased activity around the harbour, harbour patrol vessels on the water, and temporary access restrictions in some areas.

This is a planned exercise. No live fire will be used, and all smoke will be created using approved simulation equipment under controlled conditions. Safety remains the top priority throughout, and marina operations will continue wherever possible. Emergency services control rooms are aware of the exercise.

Thank you for your understanding as agencies work together to strengthen emergency preparedness and help keep Weymouth Harbour, residents and visitors safe.

The RNLI.

A wonderful organisation that provide such a vital service to residents and visitors. Thank you so much for all that you do, especially this based on and around Weymouth.

Weymouth Lifeboat
RNLI Lifeguards Weymouth and West Dorset

The RNLI is a charity that exists to save lives at sea. But recent events have generated deliberate misinformation and a misunderstanding about our purpose and our lifesaving work in the Channel.

As a result, some of our volunteers and staff have been the subject of online and, in some cases, physical abuse. This is unacceptable.

The RNLI’s people represent the very best of society. For over two hundred years they have dedicated themselves to rescuing people they’ve never met before, without judgment, fear or favour.

We are tasked by HM Coastguard to help those in distress, and we'll do so whenever, wherever and whoever they are.

We launched 9,058 times in 2025. Only 109 of those launches were to those in distress in the Channel – 1.2% of our total rescue work. Anyone rescued from a small boat by the RNLI is then taken into the care of the relevant UK authorities.

To those who stand with the RNLI, thank you. For more than two hundred years, we've saved lives at sea around the UK and Ireland, and that commitment remains unchanged.

Sports Festival at the Marsh on Saturday 20th. Organised by the inimitable Cllr Alex Fuhrmann - Weymouth Town & Dorset Council

Sports taster sessions and a bbq!

After years of wishing to spread my passion in sport, I found the time to organise the…

MARSH SPORTS FESTIVAL!!!

It’s nothing too fancy. I’ve worked to bring together around 12 sports club from the community for 1 event. They’ll be a BBQ from Weymouth & Portland Lions Club, supported by Westham Community Group with music, and a chance to spend multiple 15-20min rounds, trying out something new.

It’s FREE for both adults and kids to experience a sport, meet local coaches - seeing if you might find that one sport that sets off the spark for a life long love of energy and activity.

Please share the message and encourage anyone you know that might be interested in a new sport, activity, or just wants to find a social group with healthy benefits.

Of course it is! ☀️⛱️⛵️🏃🏼‍♂️‍➡️🥾
