Our Weymouth and Portland NPT officers attended the scene of this RTC at around 17:00 this afternoon.

This BMW had collided with the pedestrian crossing on The Weymouth Way (A354)

Our team closed one lane for around an hour, and the whole road for a short time so that the vehicle could be recovered.

Sorry for any delay caused. The road is now reopen.

Pedestrians and cyclists should be advised the crossing is likely to be out of action for a while until it is repaired.

APPEAL | We are appealing for information following a report of wildlife crime in Weymouth.

At around 10.15am on Monday 7 July 2026 at woodland off Markham Avenue, it was reported that two boys had been seen filling in a badger sett with sticks, rocks and mud.

Footage was captured of the incident taking place. The boys are believed to be around 12 or 13 years old.

Police Constable Lauren Middleton of the Rural Crime Team said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and I would urge the two young people involved to please come forward so we can take your account of what has happened.

“I would also like to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.”

This afternoon officers attended an address in Westham due to concerns linked to anti-social behaviour and drug use. Whilst there unfortunately the residents wouldn't allow us access but we located outside, and took away with us, these two bikes that we suspect to be stolen as well as one other that we have confirmed from a separate social media post as stolen. If you recognise either of these bikes as yours or know who they may belong to please contact us quoting 55260133029 so we can return them to their rightful owner.

JAILED | Efforts by Weymouth and Portland Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have seen a man jailed for breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The NPT had secured a five-year-long CBO for 44-year-old Nicholas Gardner following a number of incidents in Weymouth town centre, including shoplifting, thefts and drug related offences.

The order, in place until 31 March 2031, imposed a number of restrictions on Gardner and excluded him from entering certain parts of Weymouth.

On Thursday 20 August 2026, Gardner was located in Commercial Road – a location he was prohibited from entering under the CBO.

He was arrested and was subsequently charged with breaching a CBO.

The following day, on Friday 21 August 2026, Gardner pleaded guilty at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced to 8 weeks in prison.

Sergeant Alice Edgar, of Weymouth NPT, said: “This sentence demonstrates that persistent offending and breaches of court orders will not be tolerated.

“Our officers have worked relentlessly to pursue this individual, gather evidence, and take action wherever criminality has occurred.

“I also want to thank the local community for their continued support, information and engagement with us. Your reports are incredibly important to help us build the picture we need to take positive action.

“We will continue to pursue those who cause harm in our neighbourhoods and use every tool available to us to disrupt criminality and make our communities safer.

“This result should reassure residents that we are listening, we are taking action, and we will continue our relentless pursuit of those responsible for offending.”

📍 All Saints Wyke Regis

At the weekend, PCSO 7872 attended All Saints Wyke Regis Fete. It was fantastic to see so many members of the community, local organisations, and partner agencies coming together to support such a positive event.

It was great to speak with residents, listen to their concerns, share crime prevention advice, and discuss ways we can continue working together to keep Wyke a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

A big thank you to all the organisers, volunteers, partners, and attendees who helped make the event such a success.

I look forward to continuing to build on the relationships made and supporting future community initiatives across Wyke and the wider Weymouth and Portland area.

APPEAL | We are investigating a report of an assault outside a shop in Weymouth and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that at around 7.40pm on Saturday 15 August 2026 a female member of staff was assaulted by a man outside Food Warehouse at the Jubilee Retail Park.

The victim did not sustain any serious injuries.

Officers attended the scene and a man aged in his 50s from Birmingham was arrested. He was subsequently charged with assault by beating and is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 1 October 2026.

Police Constable Megan Gardner, of Weymouth police, said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries into this incident and I understand there were a number of people in the area when it occurred.

“I would urge any witnesses who have not already had contact with police to please get in touch.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam who were in the area of the Jubilee Retail Park around the relevant time to please review their footage to see if they have captured anything that might assist our investigation.”

Officers from our response team, based at Weymouth seized this blue child's bicycle from a local female this afternoon in the town centre.

The officers suspected the bike to be stolen, so it has been recovered and is currently at Weymouth Police Station.

The premises is considered extremely unsafe, with significant risks to anyone accessing the site.
Please be aware that entering the property is trespassing. Extra patrols are being carried out and the
owner is putting additional security measures in place.

Recently we have received an increase in reports of anti-social driving and vehicle use around the Park & Ride at Mercery Road in Weymouth. We are working alongside Dorset Council who own the site to target those who choose to use the area for anti-social means so that the Park & Ride, as well as the surrounding area, can be used and enjoyed by all.

There will be increased patrols going forward and I encourage those who see or hear those using vehicles in an anti-social manner to report them to us.

The law has very recently changed to remove the requirement for a warning to be given when a vehicle is used in an anti-social manner, and so vehicles can be seized without a warning.

On a visit to the car park yesterday evening a male rode past the police car on a motorbike without a helmet and he was issued with a fine.
