Further to the statements being made about the continuation of the Weymouth fireworks this evening, DWFRS would like to clarify the following:

We do not have authority to make decisions for event organisers. We can only advise.

We were asked for an opinion about the fireworks event, and said in our reply email: "We (DWFRS) cannot advise other than in support of the national alert and would advise that landowners and event organisers take all steps to reduce the risk of wildfires. This includes the use of bbqs, firepits, naked flame (e.g. candles) and fireworks."

During these incredibly busy and challenging times, it’s easy to focus on the crews you see out in our communities — but behind every response is a huge team working tirelessly behind the scenes.

Our control room staff, workshops, equipment maintenance teams, HR colleagues, support staff, and many others are working alongside our operational crews around the clock to keep our service running and our communities safe.

Their dedication, professionalism and teamwork make a huge difference, especially when demand is high. Thank you to every single person playing their part. 👏

We also ask our communities to help us to help you.

Please follow the advice being provided by Fire and Rescue Services and the Government, take extra care, and avoid unnecessary risks wherever possible. By doing so, you can help reduce avoidable incidents and unnecessary pressure on our emergency services.

We are all working together to keep our communities safe. ❤️

🚒 Weymouth On Call are currently in attendance, supporting our colleagues from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service with the ongoing major incident in the New Forest area.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we wish all crews and emergency services working at the incident a safe operation. Stay safe, everyone. 👨‍🚒

Members of staff from Dorset and Wiltshire fire and rescue service have been deployed as part of a national resilience request from Suffolk Fire and rescue service to assist with the ongoing Major incident. 🚒🚨

🚨 Car Wash Update 🚨

We're delighted to share that our recent charity car wash raised an incredible £1430.00! 👏

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support us, donated, or helped on the day. Special thanks to the crews from Green Watch Weymouth, Weymouth On-call and Dorchester Fire Station’s group 2 for taking the time to make the event such a success.

Every penny raised will go towards supporting the Fire Fighters Charity and Muscular Dystrophy UK – two fantastic charities that make a real difference. ❤️💙

🟢 Green Watch assisted in the rescue of the bull ‘Fred’ today who got himself in a bit of bother. We are pleased to say that Fred was successfully rescued and returned to the rest of the herd 🟢
