Feeling like there's never enough money left at the end of the month, no matter how hard you work?

Just watched the weekly company training and was blown away by the variety of people building an extra income around their already busy lives.

What struck me was that none of them had loads of spare time. They all have demanding jobs, families, commitments and big goals that are driving them to earn more.

Nicola, a teacher, runs her business from her car while waiting at hockey and football training. She's earned £17,875 in the last six months.

Hanna is a TV freelancer and digital marketer who doesn't even live in the UK. Since joining on 12th April, she's earned £5,500. One of her biggest lessons was that you can start messy, with very little knowledge or experience, and still do incredibly well.

Jenna is a hairdresser and mum to a two and three year old. Her office is often her car while she's busy being a taxi service for the family. She said, "I earned £250 in half an hour and was so glad I decided to give it a go for a tenner." Her motivation was finding £4,000 to complete a bathroom renovation.

Ferosa works in education, is a property developer and a busy mum. Following a divorce, she had to rebuild from scratch with no pension and no disposable income. Her mantra is, "I help people live their dream life by building another income." She's using her latest promotion bonus to fly to Canada and see her family.

Different backgrounds. Different reasons. One common goal: creating more financial freedom.

Their stories were incredibly inspiring.

I spent £75.17 on petrol yesterday.

£75.17!! Gulp!

I had to sit down afterwards and have a little word with myself.

Then I did the weekly food shop and something unexpected happened...

It meant I’d knocked £4.91 off my energy bill.

No haggling. No coupons. No awkward conversations in the supermarket car park.

Just my UW Cashback Card doing its thing.

Let's be honest, none of us can stop petrol prices going up, but if I'm spending the money anyway, I quite like getting something back for it.

Every little bit helps, especially when your car seems to think it's a Formula 1 vehicle and your trolley fills up before your purse is ready.

If you'd like to know how the Cashback Card works, send me a message and I'll happily explain.

When is the best time to buy a winter coat?

Not when you're standing in a freezing car park, shivering, and willing to pay anything just to feel your fingers again.

It's usually in the summer when nobody wants one.

Energy tariffs are surprisingly similar.

If you wait until the heating is back on and the cold weather arrives, you may find the best fixed deals have already disappeared and your options are more limited.

Right now, fixed energy deals are still available, although some have already started creeping up as winter gets closer.

I've noticed a sharp increase in people searching for fixed energy deals over the last few days.

It seems many households have suddenly remembered that winter turns up every year and is rarely open to negotiation.

The good news is that you don't have to wait until you're wearing three jumpers indoors and arguing with the thermostat.

Drop me a message and I'll take a look at your current tariff to see whether there's a better option available.

No pressure. No obligation. Just a sensible chat before winter starts emptying your wallet.

Big savings for my latest customer Carol.

Their British Gas fixed rate was ending on 19th May, and with energy prices predicted to rise again in July by **13%**, they wanted the security of fixing before the increase hits.

After switching to Utility Warehouse, they are now saving £364.44 per year across their energy, broadband and mobile services combined.

They will also receive £165.31 credit refunded from their previous supplier, plus a £100 cashback welcome bonus to spend on groceries.

One of the things they loved most was the simplicity of having everything on one monthly bill, all managed through one app with just one password to remember.

Utility Warehouse is also installing a new smart meter for them.

If your current fixed deal is ending soon, now is a good time to check your options before the next price rise arrives.

I saved Harry £374.71 on his energy and broadband last night.

His fixed rate with Octopus Energy was about to end and, with the variable price cap predicted to rise again in July, he wanted the security of fixing again rather than risking higher bills later in the year.

He also qualified for 6 months of free broadband, loved the idea of using the UW Cashback Card to reduce his utility bills through everyday shopping, and will receive £50 of free groceries as a welcome bonus for becoming a UW customer.

The whole thing took around 30 minutes, and some of that was spent catching up about the event where we originally met.

At the end, Harry said:
“That was very efficient, and very clear and easy!”

People often assume switching utilities is stressful and time consuming, but it really does not have to be.

If your fixed deal is ending soon and you want to see whether I can help reduce your monthly costs too, feel free to message me.

Food prices are still painfully high, so I thought I’d share some of the ways I reduce our food costs without feeling like we’re going without.

I use the OLIO app to pick up surplus food that local people and businesses are giving away instead of wasting.

I also time supermarket visits carefully. Around 4pm seems to be a good time locally for reduced items in places like Sainsbury's, Tesco and Co-op. Anything we do not use straight away goes in the freezer.

Growing vegetables and herbs has saved more money than I expected. Herbs especially are so expensive in supermarkets now. I grow some in the garden, some in patio pots and some on the kitchen windowsill.

Our local Facebook and WhatsApp groups are brilliant for swapping excess plants and seedlings. A packet of seeds can produce far more than one family needs, so we split them between neighbours. Tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers and pumpkins work particularly well.

I also freeze anything spare. At the moment the freezer is full of plums, apples and carrots that would otherwise have gone to waste.

One thing that has helped consistently is using my UW Cashback Card for shopping. The cashback goes straight back into the food budget, which really adds up over time.

What are your best tips for reducing food costs at the moment?

Food shopping has become one of those things you can’t ignore anymore.

New reports (4 May, via The Guardian) suggest UK food prices are on track to rise by around 50% since the start of the cost of living crisis.

That’s not just a statistic, it’s the weekly shop getting noticeably heavier on your budget, even when you’re buying the same things.

I look at my food delivery each week and say to the driver "is that all I get for £80!"

A lot of it comes down to bigger forces like climate pressures and energy costs pushing prices up faster than we’ve seen before.

But knowing why doesn’t make it any easier when you’re trying to stretch meals, plan ahead, and keep everyone fed.

If you’re feeling that squeeze, you’re definitely not alone.

There are a few ways families are easing the pressure right now.

Some are taking advantage of offers like up to £150 in free groceries for new Utility Warehouse customers, which can help take the edge off a shop or two.

Others are looking at the bigger picture by cutting costs on essentials like energy, broadband and mobiles, where savings can really add up over the year.

If it would help to have a fresh pair of eyes on your bills or just see what’s possible, feel free to message me.

I’m always happy to do a free, no-pressure review.

Sometimes even small changes can give a bit of breathing room.

Monday 4th May… you know what that means…

May the FOURTH be with you!

If the force has been strong with your bills lately (and not in a good way), it might be time to switch sides…

⚡ Cheaper energy
📶 Better value broadband

🛒 PLUS up to £150 in FREE groceries

Yes… even Yoda would approve of those savings.

“Spend less, you must.” 🧙‍♂️
