Staffed by fire fighters who live and work in the village, dedicated to keeping their community safe. Wheathampstead Fire Station is crewed by paid members of the local community who are on call and respond to a pager when a 999 call comes in. These men and women do exactly the same job as a full time fire fighter but instead of being based on a fire station, they live or work within 4 minutes of
the fire station and are available at mutually convenient time to keep our fire engine "on the run". We are always looking for new members of the team so do pop down to the fire station on a Tuesday evening for an informal chat if you are interested. We'll pay you a retaining fee for carrying the pager and then we'll pay you £14.51 per hour once you've passed all your training and become a competent fire fighter. You don't need to be super fit and strong, but you'll need to pass a physical test and you'll need to have a basic maths and english understanding, as long as you're over 18 we'd love to hear from you.
