Print does not go out of fashion and its very special seeing Combermere Abbey celebrated by those who experience it first hand. An endorsement of everything that we all strive for.

Over the years, we’ve been honoured to receive recognition from leading travel and lifestyle publications, each highlighting what makes this estate so unique: its rich history, beautiful surroundings, and the sense of escape that guests discover here.

Whatever your reason to come and see us, whether our award-winning holiday cottages and luxury North Wing accommodation to the gardens, parkland, and centuries of heritage woven throughout the estate, every stay offers the opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and experience the countryside at its most memorable.

As Wildflower Magazine beautifully described, Combermere Abbey is “a vibrant place to visit, to stay, even to marry.”

Whether you’re planning a romantic retreat, a family gathering, or simply seeking a peaceful countryside escape, we look forward to welcoming you to discover Combermere Abbey for yourself.

Step inside Beckett Cottage, one of our beautiful Courtyard cottages here at Combermere Abbey.

While sleeping 6 people and perfectly designed for relaxed stays, its real magic lies in the spacious and colourful dining room that easily seats up to 20. It is an ideal central gathering space when booked alongside our other Courtyard cottages.

Think multi-generational families, groups, or corporate getaways where everyone has their own private cottage to retreat to, but come together in Beckett Cottage for long breakfasts, celebratory dinners, activities, and unhurried evenings with friends and family. We can recommend chefs to take the hassle out of the kitchen or wonderful local places to order food.

It’s shared time, without shared compromise. Connection when you want it, privacy when you need it. Available all year round. Christmas and New Year dates are now available to book.

Some places instantly make you feel at home, and La Dolce Vita is one of them!

For this instalment of our Local Heroes series, Sarah visited the wonderful La Dolce Vita Italian Pasticceria in the heart of Nantwich, where owner Manuela has built a thriving business dedicated to authentic, homemade Italian food.

What began as a market stall has grown into a much-loved café, giving Manuela the freedom to create even more of the handcrafted Italian dishes and sweet treats that have earned her such a loyal following. Everything is made fresh, with passion, tradition, and a true taste of Italy in every bite.

Whether you’re stopping by for coffee and cake, a leisurely lunch, or stocking up on Italian delicacies to take home, it’s easy to see why this hidden gem has become a local favourite.

Planning a stay at Combermere Abbey? Be sure to add La Dolce Vita to your itinerary for an authentic taste of Italy, right here in Cheshire.

When Sir Kenneth Crossley purchased the Combermere Abbey estate in 1919, he was continuing a family legacy already in motion, quite literally.

The Crossley name had become synonymous with innovation, engineering excellence, and British motoring prestige through the pioneering work of the Crossley Motors company founded by his family in Manchester.

Renowned for their craftsmanship, reliability, and elegant design, Crossley cars were trusted by industrialists, military leaders, and royalty alike during the early 20th century.

Among their most celebrated moments was the 1927 royal tour of Australia and New Zealand, when specially commissioned Crossley vehicles transported the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, across thousands of miles of challenging terrain.

The journey cemented Crossley’s reputation on the world stage, with the cars praised for their endurance, comfort, and engineering precision.

The factories even joined the war effort in WW1 transforming them into production of airplanes.

Early summer at Combermere is an invitation to step away from the noise.

To switch off from the constant pull of screens, notifications, and everyday demands, and return instead to something slower, simpler, and more present, even if just for a midweek break.

Here, days unfold without distraction. Woodland walks instead of scrolling, open skies instead of inboxes, and time that feels entirely your own again.

A simple midweek stay, but a meaningful reset. A chance to properly switch off, recharge, and let your mind breathe.

The North Wing B&B is a romantic adult-only retreat shaped by centuries of history, gently softened with modern comfort. Here, even a short stay is enough to step out of everyday life and into something entirely different.

This is quiet luxury without the journey. A chance to pause, reconnect, and switch off the noise, all without needing to go far at all.

And that’s the real benefit of just one night: you don’t need a long break to feel properly away. Even a single stay is enough to reset your pace, clear your head, and leave feeling genuinely restored.

Whether you’re visiting friends, treating a loved one, or simply stopping en route, a night at The North Wing turns an ordinary pause into something memorable, and leaves you well rested, not just well travelled.
