Cast Announcement: This community choir for women’s voices began in January 2009 and currently has over 160 members. They support local charities and perform and fundraise throughout the year, singing a wide range of material including world music, popular and classic tunes. There are no auditions & no experience is necessary; the only requirements to join are an enjoyment of singing, to be female and over the age of 16. The Choir is based in Whitley Bay and meets regularly during term time.

Cast Announcement: Nice Swan Theatre Company is a student run organisation that aims to develop talent in the North East area, providing a platform to the professional theatre industry, not only for actors but also directors, musicians and technical teams. Over the past five years they have brought shows such as Spring Awakening and Hair to the area for the first time, as well as adapting classics such as The Crucible and As You Like It.
They also offer opportunities to younger members of the community through their Academy made up of Acting and Musical Theatre classes for 6-18 year olds.
Nice Swan work on their own projects as well as supporting other organisations in the North East such as The National Trust and Gateshead Council. Work on their latest production,
Macbeth, is to start shortly and will run in February at The Peoples’

Katie Doherty, born 1983, is a singer-songwriter based in the North East of England. In 2007 she won the Journal Culture Award for Newcomer of the Year. She has supported Karine Polwart, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, and Ray Davies and performed with fellow North Eastern musician Kathryn Tickell and recorded the song "Winter is Past" on Tickell's album Strange But True. Her first solo album Bridges was released in October 2007, on the Park Records label. Katie noted she is very excited to be performing at the Playhouse with such a mix of talented people.

Decote Dance is the fastest growing fitness and dance company on Tyneside. Opened in the Summer of 2009 it is based in Whitley Bay and their core focus is on getting children & young people moving through dance & exercise in fun and relaxed classes.

Jo-Anne Torre, with a team of dedicated dance professionals, now deliver to over 300 children and adults per week an innovative programme that incorporates Hip-Hop, Jazz, Breakdancing, Zumba and Ballet which are used as a means to exercise, socialise and hold performance events throughout the year. Jo, as she always is with everyting in life, is thrilled to see her company perform in the Pink Gala and to be helping kick off Paint the Town Pink in her home town.
