I think I heard, for the first time this morning on that the Government are looking to: a. Grant licences for North Sea gas production (yes that has been talked about a few times) in recent days and B. That they could use the revenue to fund green infrastructure.

This isn’t the first time I have mentioned this either. I raised it on the other podcast I am part of, Coffee Buses and Politics.

However, it is not good enough to simply say that HM Treasury will do that, it needs to be a long-term project that is enshrined in law, otherwise it just becomes a short term policy that Treasury can change at a whim - hence my belief that we should steal an idea from Norway and create a sovereign green fund.

It makes sense to drill for oil and gas and reduce our reliance on Middle Eastern production, but it also makes sense to use the revenue to reduce our long term reliance on oil and gas.
