The course is a traditional 18 hole Links

layout consisting 9 holes out and 9 back to the clubhouse. The Fairways are generous and fast running, with firm and true links greens. The course is playable all year round with rarely any winter greens in operation so it's always a fair test of your game. There are many spectacular views around the course with possibly the best saved for
the 18th tee, which offers a stunning panorama of Sinclair Bays unspoiled white sands and it's four Historic Castles which overlook the sea.

Glenmorangie Putter Eclectic - Round 5

Some more temperamental weather conditions today including beautiful sunny spells earlier on, followed by horrendously heavy rain showers and a howling wind into and off the left on the back 9 this evening met our 27 contenders.

But it was 2 of our form horses battling it out and once again finishing in the podium positions. Owen Klimas yet again showed his improving consistency to card a beautiful 81/65. Our other form player after an amazingly consistent showing winning the Handicap Section at last weekends NC500 Open was Ewan Mackenzie, today taking 3rd with a solid 84/69. The only man fit to split the dynamic duo was Jack Coghill who finished in 2nd courtesy of an impressive 79/66. Well done lads.

Another man deserving a well done was Beezer, who even in some of the toughest conditions wind wise hammered home a cracking -1 under par 68 to take Lowest Gross.

Next Wed the 10th of June is the 6th and final round of the Glenmorangie Putter Eclectic. Unsurprisingly Owen Klimas leads the way after some outstanding early season form, however there are a plethora of players within striking distance. Who will improve next week on their weakest scores? Time will tell, but make sure you have checked Masterscoreboard so you know where you stand and what you need to do next week.

Next up is this weekends return of The Sheriff's Medal. Get yourself involved if you haven't already done so.

Senior Summer Eclectic Round 4

Ex-Teacher Keith Dougan was quite simply in a class of his own in Tuesday’s Round 4 of their Summer Eclectic. Keith taught the rest a lesson in scoring with a superb Nett 67 winning by a large margin of 6 shots. 2nd place went to James Harrold with a 73 and a further 1 shot behind was Robert Klimas with a 74.

NEW LADIES COURSE RECORD

Huge Congratulations to Reay's Eleanor Tunn who beat Steph Coverly's 10 year old record of 71 on day 2 of the NC500 Links Open on Sun 31st of May by carding a stunning 70.

As well as her achievement this weekend at the NC500 Links Open; Eleanor already holds the course record at her home course of Reay (67) and has come within a shot of beating Tain and Durness's records as well.

This weekend's 70 included an opening bogey after some torrential rain, before bouncing back immediately with a birdie on 2 and another on 7 on her way to a level par front 9 of 36 followed by a level par back 9 of 34 with another birdie on 15.

Look out Thurso and Lybster, she is gunning for the complete set after having conquered Reay and Wick.

Well done Eleanor, proud to have you as our record holder!

UPDATE! Mon morning

THE NC500 OPEN 2026

Well.... that has to be up there with one of the craziest weekends of changeable weather! Neither day saw much IF ANY WIND, which is very unusual at either links Reay/Wick.

On Saturday in Reay we had glorious calm conditions and barely a breath of wind; followed by persistent light rain showers that lasted all night. Sunday started in similar fashion with that steady light rain and very little wind. After only an hour or so this turned to proper hot sunshine...however, a storm was a brewing!

So much so that some players waiting to go out were delayed as the course flooded temporarily....and some players unlucky enough to be caught out on the course cut their loses and walked in.... SOAKED TO THE SKIN AND BEYOND. After that more sunshine and light showers.

The weather definitely had a huge influence on only 21 of the 45 players over the weekend returning 2 scores.

HUGE CONGRATS must go to two of 'OUR OWN' with Michael Smith (Reay) winning the Scratch Trophy and Ewan Mackenzie (Wick) taking home the Handicap Trophy. Commiserations to Steven Rendall one of our two friends from neighbouring Orkney competing this weekend. Steven tied Michael on 144 but only lost out by the very finest of margins... a single shot, by virtue of todays score.

Finally, special mention must go to the Division 1 winner Eleanor Tunn. Who rebounded from a frustrating round on her home course on Saturday to tear up Wick on Sunday and shoot what is rumoured to be a NEW WOMENS COURSE RECORD OF 70 (TBC) Fingers crossed!

The rest of the Prize Winners can be seen below.

Thanks as always to Bob and Davey for the ever improving look of the course and Cat and helpers for keeping everyone fuelled for the unpredictable weather.

Lastly a personal thanks to Brent Munro for his help in sorting out what is a pretty complex competition with regards to scoring and prize allocation.

Next up Wednesday's Round 5 of the Glenmorangie Putter Eclectic and next Sunday's Round 2 of the Sheriff's Medal.

And just like that….
