What a fantastic day at the Summer Sounds Festival at Haigh Hall, hosted by Wigan Council.
The event brought together care home residents, extra care tenants, people living in supported accommodation, unpaid carers, their families and friends for a truly inclusive celebration. With live music throughout the day, interactive activities, community stalls, and plenty of food and refreshments, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
What made the day so special was the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It was wonderful to see people of all ages and backgrounds coming together, enjoying the entertainment, dancing. singing, making new memories, and, most importantly, feeling able to be themselves.
Events like this play such an important role in supporting wellbeing, tackling social isolation, and celebrating our adult social care communities. A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to organise such a successful event, and to all the volunteers, performers and staff who made the day so memorable.
Summer Sounds was a brilliant reminder of the power of community, inclusion and simple shared enjoyment. Wigan Council’s Health & Social Care team should be very proud.
