In between the rain showers and windy days, our pre-schoolers found a time to go on a local seasonal walk and look at the changing leaves, wildlife and countryside. Some residents even came over to say hello 🐮😊 Our toddlers and babies are not left out either as they also go for a walk down the lane when the weather is good 🌤

Puzzles, using tools and matching/sorting games are ideal for learning, counting and improving fine motor skills. Our pre-schoolers always enjoy activities like play dough and colouring and, this month, our toddlers played 'match the wellies' which helped them learn colours and patterns...and they got to try them all on too!

Shop Week was a big hit this month! We "sold" cakes and pizza, that we'd made ourselves, and enjoyed eating them in our "bakery cafe" area. We also had imaginary tea parties together and put the world to rights over a cuppa ☕😊

Crafts and activities are not only fun but help develop fine and gross motor skills. This month we have created autumn collages, autumn handprints/footprints and flower handprints. The pre-school group even had a go at drawing the family members that live in their house and self portraits by looking at themselves in a mirror 🎨.

Messy play and malleable trays are a great way to get young hands exploring different themes and textures. This month we have used shaving cream, yoghurt, baked beans, edible biscuits and dried pasta as well as floaty fabrics and toys. Sometimes they relate to our theme for the week, e.g. farmyard week, but sometimes they're just for fun!

Outdoor play is a big part of every day at nursery. Each age group has loved exploring new toys and areas like our toddler water run, bikes and trikes, outdoor kitchen and lots more. We've now got even more outdoor fun stuff but we'll have to show you those next month!
