Due to the amber heat-health alert issued for next week, from Monday 22nd until Friday 26th June waste collections will begin earlier in the day. Please make sure that your bins and food waste caddies are placed at the edge of your property by 6.30am on collection day.
This will allow the collections crews to avoid working in the peak heat.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Chair John Pritchett BEM and his wife Cllr Fran Pritchett were invited to attend Lower School Prize Evening at Willingdon Community School Thursday 11th June, which they were delighted to attend and enjoyed supporting the school.
The Guest speaker, Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards attended the evening who was very entertaining and everyone enjoyed listening to him.

Linking Lives Eastbourne

Recently the PC Chair John Pritchett and Cllr Fran Pritchett were invited to a reception to celebrate10 years since Linking Lives Eastbourne started and a thank you for everyone who had helped over this time make it so successful. The PC got a thank you for support and help given through the Parish Council grant scheme.

WILLINGDON AND JEVINGTON PARISH COUNCIL CELEBRATES HANDOVER OF NEW COMMUNITY ALLOTMENTS AT MEADOWBURNE PLACE
Barratt Redrow Southern Counties has officially handed over 17 community allotments to Willingdon and Jevinton Parish Council, to celebrate the now sold out Meadowburne Place development in Eastbourne.
In the UK, over 170,000 people are on waiting lists for allotment spaces, with wait times in the South-East reaching between 3 and 7 years. [LB1.1]
The Meadowburne Place community allotments will give residents the opportunity to grow their own produce and enjoy outdoor spaces, helping to meet the growing demand for gardening spaces across the wider South-East region.
Complete with dedicated parking spaces providing easy access, the allotments also feature custom built water points and enhanced security fencing to each allotment bay. Barratt Redrow Southern Counties have imported approved soils and handpicked the area of large stones and any obstructions from previous construction.
Representatives from Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council including Chair John Pritchett BEM, Clerk Suzy Standen-Payne and Allotment Manager Nicola Williamson and representatives from Barratt Redrow Southern Counties attended the handover to celebrate the addition of another community-focused amenity at Meadowburne Place, with open spaces and play areas already open.
Matt Holland, Chief Surveyor at Barratt Redrow Southern Counties said, “Community has always been at the heart of our vision for Meadowburne Place. We wanted to build a vibrant and cohesive neighbourhood with spaces that encourage residents to come together and enjoy a strong sense of community spirit, and the allotments are an important piece of that puzzle.
“We can’t wait to see the residents’ plots in full bloom and watch this new community space thrive over the coming months and years.”
Chair John Pritchett BEM commented, “We are pleased to officially take over the new allotments at Meadowburne Place. Community spaces like this provide a fantastic opportunity for residents to come together and contribute to the green spaces around them.
“With demand for allotment space continuing to grow across the Southeast, these plots are a valuable local resource, and we are grateful to Barratt Redrow Southern Counties for delivering a space for residents to enjoy.”

NEW PARISH CLERK

Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council are delighted to officially announce the appointment of the new Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer Suzy Standen-Payne who has joined us in May.
Suzy brings a wealth of managerial experience to the role. Suzy is taking over from Nicola Williamson who has semi-retired but continuing her role as Cemetery Manager.
Suzy will be responsible for supporting the council carrying out its functions, managing financial affairs, and ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of projects and council meetings.
