Statement to residents

At the Wixams Parish Council meeting on 23 July 2026, allegations were made publicly about my conduct. I categorically deny that I threaten, harass or bully others.

I did not consider it appropriate to argue about those allegations across the Council chamber. I said at the meeting that concerns about a councillor’s conduct should be addressed through the appropriate standards process.

I have taken advice and have raised concerns through that process about the way the matter was handled. No finding has been made that Councillor Bowman breached the Code of Conduct. Equally, no finding has been made that the allegations made about me were true.

As that process is ongoing, I will not debate its merits publicly. My earlier response, including a factual account of my Council and community work since June 2023, remains available on this page. I asked for it to be published on the Council’s page, as a response to Cllr Bowman's allegations, but the Council refused to publish it. Residents are entitled to read it and reach their own conclusions.

I will continue to carry out my role professionally, focus on Council business, and act in the interests of residents.

£418,950 written off.

Bedford Borough Council says the debtors are insolvent, dissolved, deceased, or untraceable, and that all recovery routes have been exhausted.

The losses have already been budgeted for, but Councillor Marc Frost has now called for stronger debt management and earlier intervention.

Fair and unavoidable, or a sign that action should have been taken sooner?

Almost £419,000 owed to Bedford Borough Council has been written off after debtors became insolvent, died, or could not be traced.
