🚨 11:51 🚨

Yesterday morning one πŸš’ from Wimborne Fire Station was sent to Kingston Lacy NT for alarms sounding. En route, followinng a further update to control, this was upgraded to a confirmed fire with confirmation a battery had exploded and as a result had caught fire. A further two πŸš’ were sent, one each from Redhill Park Fire Station and Poole Fire Station

On arrival crews found a fully developed fire in a ground floor office, located within the old coach house. A BA crew from Wimborne were deployed into the building, using a hose reel jet, and were tasked with extinguishing the fire. Crews quickly got the fire under control with a total of 8 BA wearers being used.

Staff were alerted quickly due to good working smoke alarms and then acted quickly to clear the area and make a safe passage for our crews to arrive, it was evident that their fire safety training paid dividends as everyone worked together to bring this incident to a quick, safe conclusion.

We would also like to thank the staff for their kindness in feeding and watering our crews after working hard to contain the fire.

We then took the opportunity to take a picture of the truck outside the house on what was a glorious sunny Sunday afternoon!

Following heavy rainfall overnight and with further rain forecast today and into tomorrow, there is an increased risk of localised flooding, particularly following Storm Chandra.

If you are travelling through areas affected by flooding, please follow this advice for your own safety. Here’s a reminder of our safety advice:

πŸš— Do not drive through standing water – it may be deeper than it appears, hidden hazards beneath the surface, and cause serious damage to your vehicle. If a road is closed due to flooding, the signage is there for a reason.
πŸš› Drivers of larger vehicles should avoid driving through flood water at speed, as this can create a β€˜bow wave’ and lead to flooding of nearby properties.
🚐 If your vehicle breaks down in flood water, firefighters can rescue you and any passengers, but vehicle recovery remains the owner’s responsibility.
πŸš™ If heavy rain reduces visibility, pull over safely if possible.
🏍️ Road surfaces may be slippery during wet conditions – take extra care.
🚷 Do not walk through flood water above knee height, as strong currents, open manholes, and hidden hazards pose serious risks.

We have received and attend multiple calls this morning following roads and properties affected by flooding.

Please do not attempt to drive through flood water, even if you think it’s not that deep.

Check your route before you travel. Your Local Authority website and the Highways should be able to confirm where some road closures are in place.

If your home has been affected by flooding, please visit our website on what to do www.dwfire.org.uk/flooding/
