Remembrance weekend is always busy for 1069. Saturday morning we manned the Poppy stands in the Square and at Waitrose, helping to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.
Sunday afternoon was the annual parade and service in Wimborne Minster.
To the cadets and staff who were out on the weekend, a very big well done and congratulations on a smart turnout.

Air Experience Flying, the best thing about being an Air Cadet. Last Friday afternoon having several attempts cancelled due to weather and other circumstances we had six cadets airborne in the Grob Tutor aircraft of No 2 Air Experience Flight at Boscombe Down. For four of them it was the first time in the Tutor and one was flying for the first time.
Some of the cadets carried out some aerobatics.
AEF, just one of the activities we offer our cadets.

A busy weekend for 1069
Saturday cadets and staff were out in Wimborne collecting for the Poppy Appeal. One team was in Wimborne Square with the second team at Waitrose.
Sunday and we took part in the Remembrance Day Parade in the town.
A small but very smart group of cadets marched from the Royal British Legion branch to the Minster for the service of Remembrance. On the return the cadets marched past the dais with the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset and the Town Mayor taking the salute.
Thank you to the cadets that turned out to support the Royal British Legion on this Remembrance weekend.

Here at 1069, we have settled back into the buildings with the new layout and are now looking to recruit cadets and staff to build the squadron.
Our minimum requirements to join as a cadet are 12 years old and in year 8 at school. Send us an email to [email protected] and we will send you details of how to join.

For staff you need to be over 20. No formal requirements, but just the interest and will to help our cadets achieve great things. Training can be given where necessary, through a wide range of courses. If you wish you can go into uniform, but this is not necessary.

Please contact us on [email protected] for any information about the squadron.

1069 is back home.
After 7 months at the ACF building in Wimborne we have moved back into the refurbished buildings on Leigh Road. Now we start the job of rebuilding the flight simulator and setting up our training systems to help our cadets achieve various training levels.
The local Army Cadets will be joining us in the Joint Cadet Centre.
It is good to finally be back home and looking forward to great things with 1069.

As Christmas approaches it time for me to thank all of the staff, civilian committee and parents who help and support our cadets. This year has been different for us, we are currently four months into a six week project to convert the squadron building into a joint cadet centre. When completed we will be collocated with the ACF in a freshly refurbished building.

During the year we have carried on with our normal activities of training and proficiency exams
We took our mobile flight simulator to the Coronation Volunteers Day in Wimborne Town Centre for a recruiting display.
Flying and Gliding have been limited by weather but some lucky cadets have been airborne.
The recent months have seen us parading at the Army Cadet building which has presented its own set of challenges.
Fourteen cadets paraded for Remembrance Sunday in Wimborne where the weather did its best to dampen our spirits.
Finally I would like to thank the cadets who have stuck with us and joined during the recent upheaval and still come along to parades.
Air Cadets, the reason why we do this.
