Our Greener Faster Grants are open to applications until 29th June! 🍃
The scheme supports not-for-profit groups with one-off funding of up to £1000 to help them do things like improve nature and biodiversity, reduce energy use, or provide future protection against extreme climate events.
Marwell Wildlife's bike racks and bike repair station project is a great example. With support from our grants, Marwell Zoo has created new bike-friendly facilities, making it easier (and more attractive!) for people to choose sustainable travel. 🚴
The funding allowed the purchase and installation of bike parking for up to 40 bikes, along with a bike pump and repair station at the front of Marwell Zoo. 🚲
Speaking about the grant, the group said:
"We are very grateful to have received a grant from Wi******er City Council that has allowed us to install some new and improved bike parking facilities outside the Keepers Kitchen cafe, at the front of Marwell Zoo, promoting a sustainable way to travel to us.
We opened the Keepers Kitchen in May and we are hoping that it becomes a vibrant hub for the local community, who are currently underserved with places to grab a coffee and a bite to eat. All cyclists welcome!"
If you're part of, or know of, a community group that could make use of the funding, then our website is the place to apply or find out more! Head over to 👇
