The Band and Bugles of The Rifles

The Band and Bugles of The Rifles Welcome to the official page of The Band and Bugles of The Rifles.

As the band departs on their well-earned summer leave today, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your continued support. As those of you who attended our summer series of concerts will know, the band will look and sound little different from September as our woodwind players are reassigned across the Corps and we transition into a brass band.

To those departing the band - Thank you for unwavering service. Good luck in the future and we hope to work together again soon.

The instruments will still be silver, the bugles will still lead the band, the uniform will still be green and the music will always be Swift and Bold.

Last week, the band, bugles, and guests came together to commemorate the 1982 bombing of the bandstand in Regent's Park, London. This took place during a performance by the band of The Royal Green Jackets. The 7 bandsman who were killed and those who were injured are remembered by us on the anniversary every year.

A Career in The British Army has a lot to offer!! Yes, you can even learn to sail!

One of our trombone players is currently delivering instruction in multiple waterborne activities to service personnel. Cpl Paley is temporarily employed at the Army Inshore Sail Training Centre.

Last week, our Serjeant Major visited Cpl Paley to present him with the Bar for his long service medal, representing 25 years Regular Army service. Cpl Paley began his career in Germany with the Royal Tank Regiment band and came to the band and bugles following assignments with bands of The Queen's Division, Royal Logistic Corps and British Army Band Sandhurst.

Farewell to a Legend!

Yesterday, The Band and Bugles of The Rifles were at Sir John Moore barracks, Wi******er, the spiritual home of the Light Division. Leading us onto the square for his final parade was Rifles Bugle Major (CSjt) Aaron Keely.

Bugle Major Keely retires shortly after 24 years of service in the Regular Army. He has served with the band and bugles on 4 separate occasions, including a combined 3 years as a Bugler, 2 years as Assistant Bugle Major and 4 years as the Bugle Major.

Over the last 4 years, he has led the band on parade with his calm and confident leadership through a very busy era, including several high-profile state occasions, numerous public duties, and multiple overseas tours. All of us at The Band and Bugles of The Rifles would like to wish him well for the future... Carry on Bugle Major!

Celer et Audax. Swift and Bold.
