Night shift at Wi******er City Mill 🌙🦦

In celebration of World Otter Day, here are some of our favourite after-hours visitors - slipping through the water and reminding us that the river comes alive long after the doors close.

A rare glimpse into the secret nightlife of the Itchen. 💫

Did you know that Wi******er City Mill has been in the Trust's care since the 1930s?

From 1931 to 2005, the Youth Hostels Association (England and Wales) had use of the Mill as the chosen tenants. The Mill room was used as the common room, and people would dunk themselves in to the rushing water of the River Itchen and cling on to a rope to wash themselves 💦

Would you have wanted a dip in the River Itchen or decided against washing instead?

Big news from Wi******er City Mill 🎉Work has started on our Mill Wheel Project.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us along the way. We’re especially grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund and our amazing local community 💛

It’s going to take time, but we can’t wait to see the wheel turning again ⚙️🌊

🚧 During this period, some access at the Mill will be limited - thank you for bearing with us while we bring the mill back to life.
