As soon as Wes Streeting entered office, he caved in to the Unions and handed Resident Doctors a pay rise of over 20%.

Now they've come back for more, and patients are suffering.

Only Conservatives have a plan to ban doctors from striking, as we do with the Police and the Army.

We are sad to report the death of former Chertsey councillor Derek Cotty who was Mayor of Runnymede during the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta. Derek joined the Council after retiring from a career in TV and was widely respected as "straightforward, polite, gracious, and fair" as well as dedicated to his residents. RIP

Runnymede & Weybridge Conservatives are sad to announce the death of Derek Cotty who was a councillor for the Chertsey Riverside ward on Runnymede Borough Council for 11 years until May 2023.

I’m very pleased to share that Chertsey will benefit from a significant package of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding. We worked hard with officers to identify the right actions, practicalities, and opportunities to secure outcomes that directly reflect what residents told us they want. Given our recent loss of SPF monies, this is definitely well received.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey. Residents were clear in their priorities:

1. Local green space improvements

2. Flood-prevention infrastructure

3. Healthcare infrastructure

with local street improvements and parks and playground upgrades also scoring highly.

I’m delighted that these community priorities are now being translated into real and local investment.

The approved improvements for the Chertsey Riverside & Chertsey St Ann’s CIL Area include:

· Biodiversity Improvements at St Ann’s Hill – £15,000 neighbourhood CIL (supplementing £10,000 from the Climate Change Pump Prime Fund)

· Abbeyfields Play Area Replacement – £60,000 neighbourhood CIL (supplementing £15,000 from the Youth Development Fund)

· Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) Improvements at Gogmore Farm Park – £20,000 neighbourhood CIL
· Trim Trail Equipment at Chertsey Recreation Ground – £16,300 neighbourhood CIL (plus £3,700 S106 funding)

· Outdoor Gym at Gogmore Farm Park – £40,000 neighbourhood CIL (plus £40,000 NHS funding)

· Chertsey Health Centre Improvements – £199,375 neighbourhood CIL allocation

You may remember that for several weeks in the summer, there were numerous issues across Egham and the wider Borough around bin collections being missed. The scale of the disruptions were so extensive that I have decided to table a Full Council motion to seek accountability from the Labour-led administration, and to ensure that the Council learns from what happened, addresses the root causes of the disruptions and seeks to reduce the likelihood of future disruptions on such a massive scale. My motion will be heard at tomorrow’s Full Council which can be attended in-person from the public gallery and will also be live streamed.

Here’s a link to one of my previous posts from July, which demonstrates how bad things were: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1RMWYC1UdM/?mibextid=wwXIfr

We’re working hard and improving SEND services across the county. This academic year, nearly 500 new specialist school places are being created, with 169 already built and 298 more on the way by summer 2026. These places are part of our long-term commitment to build inclusive, high-quality education closer to home.

Since 2021, we’ve delivered over 250 new places per year, using more than £211 million in capital investment.

We know there’s more to do and we’re committed to doing it. Read more in our press release: https://orlo.uk/kItoB

This Thursday’s Full Council at Runnymede has a very light agenda, apart from 2 very significant motions from Cllr Sam Jenkins and Surrey County Cllr Jonathan Hulley. Cllr Jenkins will be seeking accountability for the dozens of missed bin collections that occurred this summer, while Cllr Hulley will be speaking up for marginalised, vulnerable and technology challenged residents who will be negatively impacted by Labour’s mandatory Digital IDs.

Earlier this week, Surrey County Cllr Jonathan Hulley was interviewed on BBC Radio Surrey about ongoing efforts to improve local SEND services - here’s what he said 👇
