We know many Coordinators prefer email, and that’s absolutely fine.

If you have a community win, neighbourly moment, event photo or reason why you became a Coordinator, send it to us. We can turn it into a post.

Help us show what Neighbourhood Watch looks like across Cheshire. You don’t need to be on social media to be part of the story.

Sometimes, building a stronger community starts with something as simple as a cup of tea.

A Communi-Tea is a relaxed way to bring neighbours together, start conversations and build local connections.

It could be a few neighbours having a brew, a small street get together, a coffee morning or a picnic style catch up.

When neighbours know each other, they are more likely to look out for one another, and that is what Neighbourhood Watch is all about.

This Neighbourhood Watch Week, we’d love to hear from Coordinators across Cheshire.

Have you hosted a Communi-Tea, street party, coffee morning, community event or simple neighbourly get-together?

Send us a short update, photo or story from your scheme and we can help turn it into a social media post.

You don’t need to be on social media to be part of the story.

Could your street host one?

As we celebrate Neighbourhood Watch Week 2026, we’re shining a light on the people who help make communities across Cheshire safer, stronger and more connected.

This week, we’re also celebrating a proud moment for CNWA.

Our Social Media Volunteer, Leanne Gray, was recently awarded Volunteer of the Year 2026 at the University of Chester Careers and Employability Recognition Awards.

Leanne was recognised for helping modernise how Cheshire Neighbourhood Watch engages with communities, bringing a fresh approach to social media and helping us reach new audiences across the county.

But this award reflects something bigger.

Neighbourhood Watch is powered by volunteers. People who give their time, skills, ideas and energy to support their communities.

Whether that’s running a local scheme, sharing information, organising community events, supporting neighbours or helping behind the scenes, every contribution matters.

This Neighbourhood Watch Week, we’d like to say thank you to all of our volunteers, Coordinators, supporters and members who help make a difference every day.

Could your skills help your community too?

You don’t need years of experience. You just need to care about where you live. 💛

Neighbourhood Watch Week 2026 starts tomorrow. 💛

From 1st–7th June, we’ll be celebrating the people who help make communities across Cheshire safer, stronger and more connected.

Neighbourhood Watch is not just about crime prevention.

It’s about neighbours knowing each other.
It’s about sharing trusted information.
It’s about looking out for vulnerable people.
It’s about community spirit.
And it often starts with one person deciding to do something.

This week, we’ll be sharing stories, recognising volunteers and showing what Neighbourhood Watch looks like today.

Could you help your street, estate or local community feel more connected?

A huge congratulations to our Social Media Assistant, Leanne Gray, who has won the University of Chester Careers and Employability Recognition Award for Volunteer of the Year 2026.

Leanne was nominated by CNWA for the impact she has made in helping us modernise our community engagement and outreach.

Through creativity, clear messaging and a strong understanding of digital platforms, Leanne has helped bring a fresh voice to Neighbourhood Watch in Cheshire, showing why it remains relevant today and helping us reach new audiences, including younger residents and families.

Her work has supported our social media development, helped build trust online and contributed to new conversations around how people can get involved in safer, stronger communities.

This award is a brilliant reminder that volunteering with Neighbourhood Watch can make a real difference, not just in your local area, but across Cheshire.

If you care about your community and would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.

Open water can look calm, but it can be dangerous, even on warm days.

Cold water shock, hidden depths, strong currents, weeds, and slippery banks can put lives at risk very quickly.

Please speak to children, young people, family and friends about the dangers of open water.

If someone gets into difficulty:

• call 999 immediately
• ask for the fire service inland, or the coastguard at the coast
• stay out of the water
• encourage them to float on their back
• throw something that floats if it’s safe to do so

A conversation today could save a life tomorrow.

Please share this with your local community.

This started as just a WhatsApp group.

After lockdown, residents at Piper’s Court in Hoole, Chester, created a WhatsApp group to support each other and stay connected.

Kate helped turn that informal support network into an official Neighbourhood Watch scheme, giving the group a clear purpose and helping the community build even stronger links.

The scheme has helped residents:

• stay connected
• share useful updates
• support one another
• build better links with local police
• create a stronger sense of community

Kate’s story shows that Neighbourhood Watch isn’t just about crime prevention. It’s about neighbourliness, connection and people looking out for each other.

Myth or truth?

Myth: You need loads of time to be a Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator.
Truth: The role works around your community.

Being a Coordinator doesn’t mean endless meetings or hours of extra work.

It can be as simple as:

• sharing trusted updates
• keeping neighbours connected
• using a WhatsApp or Facebook group you already have
• helping people know who to contact
• looking out for your street in a way that works for you

You don’t have to do it all.
Small actions can make a big difference.
