How do you like your tea?

From an organisation that quite literally runs on tea… happy National Tea Day! ☕

Across the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, there’s one thing you’ll always find close by on parade nights, camps, courses and late nights planning training… a proper brew.

But today we want to settle the important questions once and for all: what is the perfect colour for a cup of tea?

Milk first or tea first? Light and milky or strong and builder’s brew brown? And are you team digestive, chocolate hobnob or something else entirely?

Let the (very serious) debate begin… ☕👇

A fun day for cadets at 272 (Wisbech) Sqn ATC!

Easter Monday saw cadets have a day to remember. They started by helping their local community by doing a litter pick in the vicinity of the Sqn building and collected two bags of rubbish. After a quick break it was time for an inter flight football match with Wessex flight beating Chinook flight.

Lunch was enjoyed sitting in the sun and then it was time for a leadership and teamwork task which involved cadets trying to fill a bucket with water using various implements. It didn’t help that one of the buckets had holes in it!

Radio practice was next on the agenda with cadets split into teams to play noughts and crosses and battleships by relaying messages using correct radio procedures. There was a bit of confusion on how to read coordinates but it all worked out in the end.

The day ended with a barbecue organised by the staff and presentation of certificates to the winning flight which was Wessex, ably led by FS Ruby Frost. Well done Wessex flight! Chinook flight say they are going to win next time!

Other photos here are of cadets receiving various badges and certificates. Of note is Cpl Lewis Edwards getting his silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and Cpl Ellie Lowe who was a bit camera shy receiving the bronze award. (She did say that I could publish this photo!)

We are an organisation for young people aged 12 (year 8 and above) to 17 years of age. If interested please email the Squadron at [email protected] for more information. All of this cannot happen without our adult volunteers. If you are aged 20 and above and would like to help the next generation please contact us.

Today nine cadets from 272 (Wisbech) Sqn ATC were out walking around Whittlesey and walked about ten miles over varying terrain. Why I hear you ask? They were doing their practice walk and training as part of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme bronze award. Next step is the two day expedition in April where they will complete two days of walking with an overnight camp. They will have to be self sufficient and carry everything that they will need for the two days including their tents, sleeping equipment and cooking equipment and food. We wish them good luck!

More badges for 272 (Wisbech) Sqn ATC.

Cadets this week have been presented with badges for their hard work. Cpl Aleks De Bessa and Sgt Edward Berry each received a silver drum badge for representing Central and East Region in the Region band. A great achievement! Bronze radio badges also went to Cdt Dean Edwards, Cpl Lewis Edwards and Sgt Edward Berry.

These are some of the many activities that our cadets get to enjoy. If you are aged 12 to 16 and in year 8 or above and this is of interest to you please contact the Squadron by email at [email protected] for more information. We are also on the lookout for adult volunteers aged 20 and above to help develop the next generation.

Today cadets from 272 Wisbech Squadron Air Training Corps were out helping at the annual Wisbech Christmas fair. All cadets attending had a great day and were thanked for their help which included giving directions to visitors to the town and assisting the Wisbech branch of the Royal British Legion with their stall. They were also welcomed by Fenland families and baby bank who provided tea, coffee and hot chocolate which the cadets enjoyed.
Thanks go out to all cadets for attending the event close to Christmas.
