We are no longer using waiting lists for our sessions.

Families usually need to book more than one place when attending a group. The waiting list feature in Bookwhen can only offer one ticket at a time when a space becomes available. This has caused frustration for some families and so based on the balance of overall feedback to date we have decided to stop using waiting lists.

If a session is fully booked, please check Bookwhen regularly, as spaces may become available if another family cancels their booking.

If you are unable to attend a session you have booked, please cancel your place as soon as possible. This helps us offer places to other families who would like to attend.

GETTING READY FOR SCHOOL ~ Packed lunch ideas

Do you struggle for ideas on what to include in your child’s packed lunch?

Try to include a range of food groups in packed lunches including lean proteins (meat/fish/cheese/eggs/beans/lentils), carbohydrate (bread/pasta/rice), fruit and vegetables and dairy (or dairy free alternatives)

-A typical packed lunch may include sandwich/roll/wrap, small bag of crisps/plain popcorn/rice cakes, chopped up veggies/salad, fruit, a yoghurt and a treat such as a chocolate bar/cake.

GETTING READY FOR SCHOOL ~ School lunch struggles

Are you worried that your child may not eat enough at school?

Try not to worry if your child doesn’t eat much at school when they start their new school year. Some children struggle with a poor appetite when they are settling into a new routine. Here are some tips to try to keep their nutrition topped outside of school hours.

Encourage a decent, filling breakfast including carbohydrate and protein, such as:

- low sugar wholegrain cereal with milk (porridge or Weetabix are ideal) with added ground nuts/seeds/nut butters or a spoonful of yoghurt to increase the protein
- Wholemeal toast with eggs/peanut butter/melted cheese/soft cheese
- Greek yoghurt with fruit
- Omelette
- Homemade smoothie (which can be made the night before to save time!) containing milk, oats, fruit, Greek yoghurt and nut butters.

If your child eats their evening meal very soon after finishing school, encourage a bedtime snack later in the evening, such as a milky drink and biscuit/small bowl of cereal/yoghurt/piece of toast

If your child eats their evening meal later in the evening (from around 6pm), encourage a a nourishing snack after school e.g. fruit and yogurt/low sugar cereal bar/boiled egg/breadsticks and veggies with houmous.

Please ensure this is a good couple of hours before evening meal though, otherwise your child may become too full to eat much later.

Try not to put too much pressure on your child about eating, or ask them too many questions about what they have eaten, as this may make them more anxious about eating at school.

Try to only speak positively about the snacks and food they have at school. Even if you think the school meals sound horrible or you have heard negative things about them, try to avoid your child hearing this.
