🔥 Fire Call 🔥

Today crews from Witham and Maldon were called to a field fire. Upon arrival crews found a bonfire which had spread to an old boat and tyres.

Despite the rain that we have had and the current forecast, everywhere is still dry, and it will be for the foreseeable.

We urge people not to have a bonfire, and be careful when in dry areas of vegetation.

🔥🚒🔥

We were called to approximately 25 meters of hedgerow alight between two stubble fields yesterday evening.

Crews from Witham and Chelmsford worked to stop the fire from spreading further along the hedgerow and into the fields.

A huge thank you to the team at Terling Hall Farm, Lord Rayleigh’s Estate, for helping us extinguish the fire using their water bowser and for creating a fire break around the field!

🔥🚒🔥

Crews were called to a house fire in Witham this week.

On arrival it was reported that there was a fire in an upstairs bedroom. Crews entered the property in Breathing Apparatus (BA), extinguished the fire and made it safe. They also rescued 5 kittens from a bedroom upstairs and administered Smokey Paws Oxygen Therapy.
The cause of the fire was an electric fan.

Crew Manager Darrel Drake said “ There are two important safety messages here. Firstly, the property had working smoke alarms which alerted the occupants to the fire. They then got everyone out of the house and called the fire brigade. Secondly, the door to the room where the fire started was closed. This meant the damage was mainly confined to this room.’
