FREE Seated Exercise Classes
Join our fun, social chair-based exercise class to improve your healthand well-being.
6 FREE classes are being run at the Wiveliscombe Community Centre funded by Wiveliscombe Town Council.
WHEN? Starts on Wednesday 3rd June at 10 am-10.45 am
WHERE? At the Community Centre and runs for 6 weeks.
COST? 6 classes are FREE
Find us in the upstairs room – there is a lift. No need to book.
We all know that being physically active is good for us, but not everyone can take part in activities like walking, cycling or aerobics classes. If that’s the case for you, but you want to keep active, then chair-based exercise could be just what you’re looking for. This is an exercise class specifically designed for improving strength, flexibility, heart and lung health. It is low impact seated exercise (gentle on the joints). Some of the exercises are done with music and we encourage you to go at your own pace!
Wear loose comfortable clothing, trainers or shoes that tie on and support your feet and bring a bottle of water or something to drink.
If you have a health condition, check with your GP before starting to exercise more.

This was arguably Britain’s most expensive Medieval mistake...
In 1197, King Richard the Lionheart spent a staggering £12,000 (more than his entire annual revenue from England) to build Château Gaillard in Normandy. It was the most advanced castle of the Middle Ages, designed to be the ultimate shield against the French.
The mistake? Richard died shortly after it was finished, leaving it to his brother, King John. In 1204, the French captured it after a six month siege, reportedly by crawling up through the latrine chutes (toilet pipes).
A kingdom’s fortune spent, a perfect castle lost, and the Crown’s French empire collapsed, all because of a bad successor and a very smelly security flaw.

Happily, no-one can climb up ours!

Just seen on Wellington Town Council F/B page:
Longforth Road Toilet Block - Update
Unfortunately, the installation date for the Longforth Road toilet block has had to be put back to Sunday 26 July.
Longforth Road will need to be closed for a period of time to allow the installation. When our contractors applied to Somerset Council for a road closure for the original delivery date of the 16th June, they were advised that a road closure that day wouldn’t be possible because of other road closures and planned works in the area. They also asked that given the importance of Longforth Road for deliveries to Asda and Relyon we plan the installation for a Sunday to minimise disruption. The 26 July is the earliest Sunday after the original planned date that all parties that need to be involved are available.

So, make sure you use our toilets before going all the way to Wellington.
