🚨 BURNTCOMMON SLIP ROADS: GOVERNMENT CONFIRMS SCHEME HAS NOT BEEN PRIORITISED

On 24 June 2026, Ripley Parish Council wrote to the Department for Transport calling for the proposed Burntcommon slip-road improvements to be delivered.

The Department replied on 20 July. Although it acknowledged that the scheme would provide benefits, it confirmed that the proposals were not prioritised because of wider affordability pressures.

In practical terms, the scheme has been shelved, with no funding, timetable or commitment for delivery.

This is deeply concerning given the scale of planned development across the area and the additional traffic expected from Wisley Airfield, Garlick’s Arch and other sites.

What housing does Ripley actually need?

THE RIPLEY PARISH HOUSING NEEDS SURVEY IS NOW LIVE.

Surrey Community Action is carrying out an independent survey on behalf of Ripley Parish Council and Guildford Borough Council to understand local housing need in Ripley Parish.

This is for people who:
• are struggling to afford to buy or rent locally;
• live or work in Ripley Parish;
• want to downsize but stay local;
• have family members who would like to remain in or return to the village;
• care about what sort of housing Ripley may need in future.

You can complete the survey online here:
www.surveymonkey.com/r/MW6PCBP

Or scan the QR code on the poster.

Deadline: 26 July 2026

Please complete it and share it with neighbours, family, friends, local workers and anyone with a connection to Ripley Parish.

A strong response gives the village proper evidence.
