🗓️ Tue 22 Sept
🕙 10am - 4pm
📍 Boyn Grove Library SL6 5BF

Known as Community Lives, we operate two services from Boyn Grove:

The Dementia Resource Centre is our specialist hub for older adults with a formal diagnosis of dementia. Here, people can socialise, stay active, enjoy sensory experiences, and receive tailored support designed to enhance their quality of life. We are recruiting:
• Full-time; 37 hours | Mon-Fri 8.30am – 4.30pm

Our Learning Disability Day Service provides stimulating activities and opportunities for people with learning disabilities, autistic people and people with physical disabilities to enjoy the things that matter, stay mentally and physically active and develop new skills. We are recruiting:
• Full-time; 37 hours | Mon-Fri 8.30am – 4.30pm
• Part-time; 22.5 hours | Wed-Fri 8.30am – 4.30pm (12-month fixed term contract)

Our teams put on a range of activities and events throughout the day - there is honestly never a quiet moment at Boyn Grove! From singing, cooking and games to sports, day trips and pub lunches - even taking on a 5k challenge - you name it and we probably do it!

Community Lives is about enriching the lives of the people we support. This means we are looking for people who are creative, musical, artistic - whatever interests and hobbies you bring to the table, we'll likely find a way to include it. Most importantly, we want someone who is passionate about helping people live their best lives

In addition to enthusiastic and compassionate individuals, we are looking for people who:
• Hold a valid manual UK driving licence as the role will involve driving our vehicles to transport people.
• Have right to work in the UK - we do not offer sponsorship and you must have at least 12 months on your current visa.

This role does include some care responsibilities, but previous experience isn't needed as we provide full training and support. Our current teams are made up of people from a wide range of backgrounds - care, schools, nurseries, even corporate finance and marketing. Bring your passion and we'll take care of the rest.

Full-time salary is £24,791.39 and our weekday hourly rate is £12.85

If you're looking for a change, this is your opportunity to find out more about us and how you can get involved.

Earlier this summer a group of 24 people from across Optalis enjoyed a fantastic day at this year's Parallel Windsor Festival this July.

The Kite Festival is supported by the wonderful team at Optalis (adult social care and support - and we'd like to take this opportunity to say a very big THANK YOU!

Their volunteers help us keep the day running smoothly and the team offer vital support for the event - offering festival goers use of their toilet facilities, water and changing places facilities. Meaning we can offer an accessible event for the community!

This year, we are also joined by their Boyn Grove based ArtAble group - selling hand-crafted gifts at our new pop-up market.

Listening to People at Loddon Court Short Breaks

Families and the people we support recently joined our People Forum to talk about Loddon Court Short Breaks.

The meeting was an opportunity to hear updates about the service, share feedback and discuss what is working well and where improvements could be made. It is part of our commitment to involving people in decisions and making sure their views are heard.

We were pleased to receive lots of positive feedback. People told us they value the flexibility of the service, the support provided by the team and the fact that people look forward to their stays at Loddon Court. The delicious home cooked meals were also a firm favourite.

One family shared how staff have taken the time to understand their son's needs and adapt their support, which has had a positive impact on his experience.

People also suggested a few areas for improvement, including providing more notice of upcoming stays and making sure people's personal belongings are well looked after. The feedback shared will help us continue to improve the service.

Jay who stays at Loddon Court and helped support the meeting said: “We met to discuss what goes well in Loddon Court and make sure people have a voice. The reason it is important is because we discuss improving Loddon Court. It was well attended and supported by Loddon Court staff. We wrote all of our ideas on post its, and there was a lot more positive comments, than negative. The meeting went very well indeed.”

The People Forum will take place every six months, giving families and the people we support regular opportunities to influence their service.
