We loved collaborating with the team at P.W. Waters Ltd to help bring the First Light Festival to life!

A massive thank you to them (and Micky Waters) for providing the crane and transport to get the Pakefield Man safely onto the beach and back to the depot.

Supporting our local community is what we do best. Our Facilities Management and Grounds teams worked hard behind the scenes to:
• Build the production compound, fence Claremont Pier, and deliver beach barriers via tractor.
• Upgrade toilet fixtures, manage waste compounds, and arrange the Sunday morning amenities tanker.
• Set up event banners and provide 24/7 on call support all weekend.

Proud to support such a fantastic local event!

From planning to delivery, we’re equipped to support events of all sizes, safely and efficiently.

As the team delivering collections on behalf of East Suffolk Council, we’d like to thank residents for their efforts and understanding during the first week of the new Better Recycling service.

This week, Cllr Paul Ashton (Cabinet Member for Operations) spoke with James Hazell on GenX Radio Suffolk about the first week of the roll-out — thanking residents for their efforts and outlining the work underway to deliver remaining containers and catch up on any missed collections.

For more information about the new services head to www.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/better-recycling or download the East Suffolk app (just search for East Suffolk in your app store).

Cllr Paul Ashton, our Cabinet Member for Operations, spoke with James Hazell on GenX Radio Suffolk this morning to discuss the first week of the brand new countywide “Better Recycling” service - thanking residents for their efforts and explaining the steps being taken to deliver the final remaining containers and to catch up with collections which may have been missed.

You can listen here from 1:19:30 onwards: https://www.merlinsoftware.co.uk/radio/listen/player.asp?showid=28720

Following media reports, Cllr Ashton also answered questions about the arrangements for processing food waste and explained that there is no link between the facilities currently being used and the bedding-in of this brand new collection service.

For more information about the new services head to the link in our comments and if you haven’t done so already, download our brand new app!

He didn't want to win the gift card. He wanted to take his family out for dinner.

At this year's Suffolk Show, we set up a keepy-uppy challenge, and honestly, it took on a life of its own. Dads were quietly certain they'd still got it. Mums who surprised everyone. Kids treated it like a cup final, and hundreds gave it a go.

When we asked Oscar why he wanted to win, he didn't mention the prize. He said, "I want to win so I can take my family to dinner."

Another winner had his eye on a trip away with his mates.

Small prizes. Enormous reasons.

And the ball they were all chasing? It wasn't a normal football. We made it out of recycled bin bags.

Think about that. A bag bound for landfill, about the most worthless thing we own, became a game. The game became a memory. The memory became a family sitting down to dinner together. When we recycle right, the things we'd throw away start giving something back.

Because services are what we do, people are why we do it. Bringing the community together is exactly why we show up.

And the results are

1st Tommy with 265
2nd Oscar with 229
3rd Owen with 136

A huge thank you to East Suffolk Council for having us, and to all who gave it a go.

The cheers when a six-year-old hit double figures. The groans when a grown man lost it on number three. The quiet concentration of teenagers who suddenly remembered they had something to prove.

Our Keepy Uppy Challenge at the Suffolk Show isn’t really about football. It’s about the small, joyful moments that happen when a community shows up for itself kids, parents, granddads, all having a go. All cheering each other on.

That’s what we do at East Suffolk Services too. Not the football bit. The showing up bit. The grounds you walk on. The bins that get emptied. The spaces you love that stay loved because someone’s quietly looking after them.

Come find us. Stand 198. Today and tomorrow.
Beat the leaderboard. Win a prize. Stay for a chat.

Behind every space you love.

Can you beat our current leader with 158 keepy uppies
Or get your name to the leader board with 34 points.

Recycling sites are a strange kind of success story. The more a community recycles, the harder these little corners of our towns have to work and after a warm weekend, they really earn their keep.

When our crew arrived at Framlingham Fore Street, the site had been doing exactly the job Framlingham asks of it: catching the glass from a community that, by every measure, recycles well. It just needed a hand getting back to its best.

The team rolled up, cleared it down, and reset it, bottle by bottle, bag by bag, until the site looked the way Framlingham deserves. We love seeing the immediate positive impact our teams have on the appearance of our towns; it’s all part of our commitment to a cleaner, greener East Suffolk.

A thank you to the Waste & Recycling crew, who treat every site in East Suffolk like it’s on their own street.

If you run a business, venue or event in East Suffolk and your bins are giving you a “Monday morning” feeling, we can help with that too.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re reminding ourselves of the role we can all play in looking out for one another.

Sometimes, making a difference can be as simple as noticing someone is struggling or starting a conversation. That’s why we’re sharing this powerful animation from Suffolk Mind.

Please take a moment to watch and share. You never know who might need to see it today.

Better recycling in East Suffolk starts this June ♻️ and, here at East Suffolk Services, we're proud to be supporting the delivery of this scheme.

To support you every step of the journey, East Suffolk Council has launched the new East Suffolk app 📱

The app makes it easier than ever for you to:

✅ Check which bin is due for collection
✅ Learn what can be recycled in each bin
✅ Set reminders so you never miss bin day
✅ Stay updated on any service changes or delays

Better Recycling is all about helping residents recycle more and waste less as we roll out the new changes.

Download the app for free from your app store (search East Suffolk) or visit:

The new East Suffolk app is here!

To help you with the changes to recycling in East Suffolk, we have launched a new East Suffolk app.

The app will help you quickly see which bin is due for collection each week and will help you easily check what can be put into each bin, to help you recycle even more.

🔔 You can also opt in to receive reminders ahead of bin day, and receive alerts if your bin collection has been delayed.

The app will also enable you to keep up to date with the latest council news, find your nearest council-owned car parks, public toilets, and leisure centres, and check the food hygiene ratings of local venues before heading out to eat.

The East Suffolk app is available to download for free from your app store (search for East Suffolk) or at www.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/councilapp
