🗳️ Ever thought about becoming a Parish Councillor?

Believe it or not, there are now only 11 months until the next Parish Council elections!

Parish Councillors help make decisions about local services, community facilities, planning matters, events, green spaces, and much more. It's a chance to have a real say in the future of your community and make a positive difference where you live.

You don't need any special qualifications, just an interest in your local area, a willingness to listen to residents, and a desire to get involved.

Whether you've considered it before or the idea has never crossed your mind, now is a great time to start learning about what the role involves.

Over the coming months we'll be sharing more information about the work of the Council and what being a Councillor is really like.

The future of our community starts with local people stepping forward. Could that be you?

📢🔍 Ever wondered what your Parish Council spends its money on?
From tomorrow, the Annual Governance & Accountability Return (AGAR) Public Rights Period begins!

This is your opportunity to take a look at the Council's accounting records and ask questions about how public money has been spent. It's all part of keeping local government open, transparent, and accountable.

Think of it as a behind-the-scenes pass to your Parish Council's finances! 💷📋

The public rights period runs from 3rd June to 14th July. During this time, local electors can inspect certain financial records relating to the 2025/26 financial year.

For full details on how to exercise your rights, please see the notice published on our website.

💬 First and foremost, we want to say a huge thank you to our communities for taking the time to have your say.

When our ‘Improving our Fire and Rescue Service’ consultation closed in January, more than a 1,000 people had taken the time to share their views.

We're so grateful to everyone who provided feedback.

You told us what matters to you – 🚒 local fire stations, 🏘️ community safety, ⏱️ response times, and our incredible firefighters who serve your towns and villages.

We’ve listened and read your feedback very carefully, and can now confirm that no fire station closures are being recommended.

Revised proposals will now be considered by Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet on 21 April 2026.

Your voices have helped shape what comes next. Thank you! 🤝

The trial public loo has arrived!

As reported in this month's issue of the Woodcote Correspondent:

The council has resolved to *trial only* a public toilet on the village green. To meet legislative requirements this must be an accessible toilet. The trial is for two months to support a future decision of the Council whether to install a permanent, externally accessible public toilet at the village hall.

Please be aware, once it is installed, the Clerk has delegated authority to remove the toilet without notice if it is abused or becomes an administrative burden. Considerate use of the temporary installation will influence the decision of the Council to install a permanent toilet in the future.

There is a QR code in the toilet for feedback, which we would appreciate people using every time they use the facility so we can keep track footfall, it is short, with drop downs and should not be too onerous to complete.

Please be aware the contract includes cleaning twice per week.
