Coming soon – Adult Reading Challenge

Are you 16+ and up for a Challenge? All you need to do is pick up your free Reading Challenge bookmark and read 3 books. Every book you read earns a stamp. Once you’ve earned 3 stamps, hand your bookmark back to any Wiltshire library to be entered into the prize draw.

🏆 First prize: 1x £50 book voucher
🏅 Two runner up prizes: 1x £25 book voucher each

The Challenge runs between 5 September to 5 December 2026. Books, eBooks and audio/eAudiobooks all count. Get reading to be in with your chance of winning!

Meet the author: Pete Wharmby

Salisbury Library, Friday 25 September, 6pm

Pete Wharmby is an autistic author, speaker and advocate. Diagnosed as autistic in 2017, at the age of 34, Pete has dedicated his time since then in trying to improve the general public's understanding of autism. He has published three books, What I Want to Talk About (2022), Untypical (2023) and Different Minds (2026), about autistic experience and how the world can be improved to help autistic people fit in.

Meet the author: Anne Holland

Melksham Library, Monday 21 September, 6pm

Author of 26 books, combining a lifelong passion for writing with extensive historical research and horse-racing expertise. Anne is a former journalist and long-time Horse & Hound contributor, she regards her WWII family history book, Stand By to Get Married, as her most magnificent work.

🎶 We’re over halfway through the Reading Challenge with Read to the Beat! and we have had 5,568 children sign up in Wiltshire Libraries so far!
There's still plenty of time to join the fun and sign up too! ✨

It's been fantastic seeing children discover new books, build a love of reading, and share their favourite stories with us this summer. We love hearing what you've been reading!

Whether it's a book, an eBook, an audiobook, a graphic novel, there are lots of ways to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge.

As a Wiltshire Library member, your child can access thousands of FREE eBooks and eAudiobooks through the Libby app. Whether they're grooving through graphic novels, dancing into adventures, or finding the rhythm in their favourite stories, there's a way for everyone to Read to the Beat! 🎶
The most important thing is building positive reading habits and discovering the joy of stories in whatever format works best for your child. ❤️
