OP FOREFRONT | A day of action across Worcestershire saw 13 people arrested yesterday (Wednesday 14 October), a large cannabis grow uncovered, and e-bikes and e-scooters seized.

Multiples warrants were executed, included in Worcester, Warndon and Kidderminster, in relation to drugs supply and animal welfare concerns.

Called Operation Forefront, the day of action took place to highlight the work officers carry out 24/7 every day of the year targeting key crimes and high harm offenders.

It saw patrol officers, Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNT), Prevention teams, CID, Operational Policing Unit (OPU), Task Force (TF), and dogs’ section, focus on arresting wanted suspects and engaging with the community.

There were also operations targeting the illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters in Worcester and Wyre Forest.

Two charged following operation in Kidderminster. 🔽

Two men have been charged with cannabis cultivation, after a police operation on an industrial estate in Kidderminster yesterday (14 October).

Lucas Povilonis, aged 32 of Accrington Road, Burnley, Lancashire, and Arunas Janusonis, aged 44, of Berry Street, Burnley, Lancashire are both charged with being concerned in the production of a controlled class B drug, namely cannabis.

They are both due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates Court today (15 October).

Police have uncovered a cannabis farm worth an estimated £1.2 million on an industrial estate in Kidderminster.

Earlier today (Wednesday 14 October) as part of Operation Forefront, a day of action across Worcestershire, officers forced entry into a disused factory off Birmingham Road where they found a sophisticated set up, across several rooms. There were also growing chemicals, a hydroponics systems and extractor fans.

Two men, aged 44 and 32, have been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. They remain in custody as enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Kirsty Hill said: “We know the impact that drugs have on our communities, and we know that the production of cannabis can be linked to organised crime groups whose activities fuel further criminality including modern slavery.

“This was a large-scale sophisticated enterprise with a significant amount of established cannabis plants. This will now all be seized and destroyed disrupting the criminal activity. Enquiries are ongoing in relation to the men who are arrested.

“We are grateful to the public for coming forward with information which helps us to disrupt harmful criminal activity, and we will continue to act to protect people from harm.”
