Isn’t it amazing what you can find in our museum.

This might look like just an ordnance survey map, but the composition on the side is the opening theme of pomp and circumstance March no. 5. The musical inspiration came to Elgar while out driving with his chauffeur and the only paper to hand was this map of Gloucestershire.

On Saturday 25 July join distinguished pianist David Owen Norris for an hour long concert at Elgar's Birthplace. This performance will feature the Concert Allegro by Sir Edward Elgar, the First Sonata for Pianoforte by Sir Hubert Parry and more!

Performances will take place at 11am and 2pm on Saturday 25 July at just £10 a ticket.
