Following the popularity of our recent online support session on contact arrangements, we are pleased to announce that we will be holding another session on Thursday.

Open to our foster carers and social workers members in England, the session will discuss the range of issues that need to be considered when developing the most appropriate contact plan. There will be a summary of the recent research conducted by the Nuffield Family Justice Observatory on how children and their birth families have been keeping in touch and we will also be sharing practice resources to support the decisions being made around contact. The session will be held at 3.15pm. Book your place here: https://www.thefosteringnetwork.org.uk/training-and-events/training-events-and-workshops/contact-arrangements-fostered-children-learning

We are holding sessions on contact for members in Scotland and are exploring sessions for members in Northern Ireland and Wales - further information about these will follow.

Happy Father's Day to all our wonderful foster fathers

17/06/2020

With lockdown restrictions easing and contact arrangements for fostered children being reviewed, we are holding a free online support session for our foster carers and social workers members in England to discuss the range of issues that need to be considered when developing the most appropriate contact plan.

The session will include a presentation on contact during lockdown by Ruth Copson at the University of East Anglia and we will also be sharing practice resources to support the decisions being made around contact.

Places are exclusively for our members and space is limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment. www.thefosteringnetwork.org.uk/training-and-events/conferences-and-seminars/contact-arrangements-fostered-children-learning

We are also exploring sessions for members in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and further information about these will follow.

BREAKING | Adults living alone in England, including single parents with children under 18, will be able to form a "support bubble" with one other household, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced at the governments daily briefing.

The updated guidelines come into place from Saturday and are intended to ease the challenges of social isolation during the coronavirus lockdown.

Members of a bubble can stay overnight at each other's home, and there is no need to stick to the two-metre social distancing rule.

The relaxation of the rules does not include those who are shielding, meaning guidelines for the "clinically extremely vulnerable" remain
