A truly splendid evening at the Warwickshire & Worcestershire Conservatives Area Dinner, held at the British Motor Museum.

A particular highlight of the evening was hearing from the ever-engaging Andrew Pierce, whose remarks were both insightful and highly entertaining.

PCC John Campion has spoken out following the Government’s recent decision to change the police pension framework.

With no prior notice, the Government has increased the SCAPE discount rate and revised commutation factors affecting members of the 1987 Police Pension Scheme.

Police officers dedicate their lives to long, demanding careers, with the expectation of stability and fairness when planning for retirement.

Making significant changes without notice risks undermining that trust and confidence.

The PCC has raised serious concerns about the impact this decision could have on officers, both past and present.

🛢️ Energy security is national security, but we have a Government that thinks shutting down the North Sea and making us dependent on imported oil and gas will make us more energy secure. They are deluded.

Chris Rimell, Deputy Chair Political, Worcester Conservative Association, said: "The murder of Henry Nowak is first and foremost a tragedy. A young man has lost his life, and our thoughts should remain with his family and friends. Public concern is entirely understandable, but the immediate focus should be on establishing the facts and allowing the proper processes to take their course.

"I share Kemi Badenoch's view that there are serious questions which deserve answers. Those questions should be examined carefully and objectively rather than through the lens of party politics. While people will hold different views, the priority must be to understand what happened and particularly why it happened.

"Legitimate concerns should be debated openly rather than ignored, because confidence in public institutions is strengthened by scrutiny, not weakened by it. There will be broader questions about policing practices, accountability and the role of identity politics in public life, and these questions should be addressed directly and honestly rather than being left unresolved."
