Headway Worcestershire is a charity providing support to people living with acquired brain injury To inform and educate on the nature and effect of head injury.

Headway Worcestershire is a charity that helps to improve life after brain injury by providing support to people with acquired brain injury and their family members. Headway Worcestershire aims:

To provide friendship and support to families from the early agonising moments following head injury
To provide a day opportunities service for adults with acquired brain damage
To provide social and educational events for its members.

Today, we were delighted to welcome Ruth Phillips to Headway Worcestershire as we celebrated the award of four years of funding for our LINKS for Life project. This transformational investment will help us continue supporting adults living with acquired brain injury (ABI) across Worcestershire, providing vital wellbeing, social connection, advocacy, rehabilitation support and opportunities to rebuild confidence, independence and purpose. The LINKS for Life project will help more people affected by ABI, along with their families and carers, access the specialist support they need to live well and stay connected to their communities. A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and The National Lottery players for making this possible. Your support is helping us create lasting positive change for people whose lives have been affected by acquired brain injury (ABI).

A productive morning at Headway Worcestershire today with a visit from Tom Collins MP.
We took the opportunity to discuss the lack of a dedicated UK budget for acquired brain injury (ABI), the financial impact that rising National Insurance costs are having on charities, and the ongoing need to raise awareness of ABI and its life-changing consequences.
As an engineer by background, Tom was particularly interested in our Workshop woodworking studio, where he spent time talking with Mark about the skills, confidence, and sense of purpose the workshop brings to our clients.
Tom also met a number of our clients and enjoyed spending time chatting with Mel, a former colleague from Worcester Bosch. Mel shared her personal experience of acquired brain injury (ABI) and the profound impact it has had on her life, including the loss of the career she loved.
It was a valuable opportunity to highlight both the challenges faced by people living with acquired brain injury and the vital work that charities like undertake every day to support them.

A Big Shout Out to our Long-Time Friend, Clare L Jones
Today, I want to say a huge thank you to my wonderful friend, Clare, a Worcester girl at heart who has spent many years living in the USA.
For the last few years, Clare has chosen to celebrate her birthday in a truly special way. Instead of asking for gifts, she asks her friends to donate to Headway Worcestershire, and then generously matches those donations.
This year, Clare's kindness will have an even greater impact. Thanks to her incredible generosity, she is covering the cost of all five days of our Christmas lunches, ensuring that at least 150 clients living with acquired brain injury can enjoy a festive meal and celebration with friends during the Christmas period, raising over £1,000.
For many of our clients, these lunches are about much more than food. They provide companionship, connection, and the opportunity to be part of a community at a time of year that can otherwise be difficult and isolating.
Clare, thank you for your ongoing kindness, generosity, and belief in what we do. Most of all, thank you for being such a great friend to both me and the charity. Your support means more than words can say. Please pass on our thanks to your kind friends.😍😍😍

It looks like Simon Hodgetts of SB Print Ltd may have upgraded his outfit. Still, on Sunday 13th September 2026, he'll transform into Super SB Man as he takes on the in support of Headway Worcestershire.

Headway Worcestershire Enjoys a Fun-Filled Summer Day at Gheluvelt Park

On a beautiful August day, Headway Worcestershire enjoyed a fantastic outing at Gheluvelt Park in Worcester with Neil from the Lawn Tennis Association.

Our clients took part in a range of activities, including tennis, safe archery, and target practice, all of which helped us build skills and confidence ahead of the next ABI Games™ 2027. For those who preferred a quieter activity, we went on a hunt for stones to decorate and paint, before hiding them around the park .......to be discovered by others.

It was wonderful to see so many families joining in with the sports and activities throughout the day. Their enthusiasm helped create a fun, inclusive atmosphere where everyone could take part, connect, and enjoy being active together.

A huge thank you to Neil for supporting the day and helping make it such a positive experience for everyone involved.

What a wonderful example of community spirit and kindness.

Headway Worcestershire would like to say a huge thank you to Matt from Townsends, a Worcestershire surveyor-led construction company who recently got in touch to ask how he could support Headway Worcestershire.
After visiting our centre and learning more about the impact of acquired brain injury, Matt very kindly offered to spend a day repainting our street-front façade. His hard work has made an incredible difference to the appearance of our building and created a welcoming environment for everyone who visits.
What touched us most was not just the painting itself, but the genuine interest and care Matt showed. He took the time to research acquired brain injury before his visit, joined our clients for lunch, and learned about the challenges many people face following a brain injury. During his research, he discovered that traumatic brain injuries (TBI) can occur within the construction industry, often as a result of falls from ladders and other workplace accidents, making our work particularly relevant to those working in the sector.
Matt, we are blown away by your kindness, generosity, and willingness to give up your time to make such a meaningful impact. People like you remind us that communities are built on compassion and support for one another.

This is such an important part of what we do at Headway Worcestershire. The ABI Games™ are all about inclusion, participation, and allowing everyone to get involved, regardless of their abilities or the support they may need.
Recently, our clients enjoyed a morning of trying new activities, including archery, axe-throwing at a bristle target, and plastic star-throwing. While some participants needed a little extra support, no one was left out, and everyone had the chance to take part, have fun, and challenge themselves in a safe, supportive environment.
Exploring new activities helps us identify opportunities to expand our programme and ensure it remains fresh, engaging, and accessible for all. With 24 events already forming part of the ABI Games™, we're always looking at ways to grow and develop the experience, and some of these activities could become exciting additions to our 2027 programme.
At Headway Worcestershire, we believe sport and activity should be for everyone, and we're proud to create opportunities where ability is celebrated, confidence grows, and no one is ever left behind.
