South Worcester Flood Rescue are volunteer responders providing water rescue services across the UK alongside providing water safety education.

We are part of DEFRA’s SAR National asset register, and West Mercia Local Resilience Forum.

This bank holiday weekend, we are providing logistical, welfare and First Aid support for the Pershore Plum Festival!

This is one of the biggest events of the year in Pershore and is great to see lots of the local community supporting the event!

For the past 9 days, South Worcester Flood Rescue volunteers have been undertaking water safety managament, welfare, safeguarding, logistics, technical and medical support for the Surf Life Saving GB National championships 2026 hosted by Holywell Bay Surf Life Saving Club!

This event is run by volunteers and is the culmination of months of planning for all involved!

This week, South Worcester Flood Rescue team members have been conducting foot patrols around possible drowning hotspots in the and area.

This was part of a co-ordinated responce due to the Met Office amber heat warning.

Many preventative actions were carried out which included providing water safety advice to members of the public.

🌊 World Drowning Prevention Day 2026 🌊

'Unite to turn the tide'

Today, we join communities and other search and rescue organisations to raise awareness around drowning which is a preventable public health issue.

South Worcester Flood Rescue engage in a variety of drowning prevention actions, which include educating the public and children in schools, preventitive patrolling in high risk areas alongside the provision of a water safety team who operate in a variety of enviroments.

Simple actions can save lives:
💙 Always supervise children in and around water.
🛟 Wear a life jacket when participating in water activities.
🏊 Learn to swim and develop water safety skills.
🚑 Learn CPR and basic First Aid skills—it could make the difference in an emergency.

Join us in spreading the message: Everyone has a role to play in preventing drowning.

Over the past month, our Base Case portable dual-screen workstation has supported multiple South Worcester Flood Rescue deployments, giving us a professional, rapidly deployable command capability wherever we operate.

Combined with GoTAK, the system provides a clear operational picture through live mapping and team tracking, helping improve coordination and situational awareness during incidents.

We’re incredibly grateful to Base Case for providing this outstanding workstation, and to GoTAK for their continued support of our TAK capability. Together they’re helping us build a modern digital command capability that would otherwise be beyond the reach of a volunteer rescue organisation.

We recently had the pleasure of being invited in to talk to students at CWLC for an assembly about water safety.

Schools can play a vital role in equipping pupils with the knowledge and skills to recognise water hazards, make safe decisions, and know what to do in an emergency. Drowning prevention isn't just about swimming—it's about building awareness, confidence, and respect for water.

By including drowning prevention into the school curriculum, we can help protect lives, reduce risk, and give every child the opportunity to stay safe around water.

Big football matches often lead to an increase in alcohol consumption, and unfortunately that can also increase the risk of accidents around water.

If you're celebrating, please stay safe:
💧 Avoid swimming or jumping into rivers, lakes, quarries or the sea, especially after drinking alcohol.
🚫 Alcohol affects your judgement, balance and ability to swim, even if you're a confident swimmer.
👥 Look out for your friends and make sure everyone gets home safely.

Enjoy the match, support England, and remember: Don't let a celebration end in tragedy.

Water Safety - but at the beach!! 🏖🏖 Over the weekend we have been providing water safety cover for the British Heart Foundation pier to pier swim in alongside other Surf Life Saving GB teams including Wessex Rescue.

All participants did a fantastic job, with it being wonderful conditions for the event over the course of the day!

Preventative actions save lives!

South Worcester Flood Rescue were tasked to carry out water safety monitoring at high risk areas around Pershore and Evesham, Wednesday and Thursday.

This was in responce to the Met Office and heat warning which is a threat to life!

Lots of water safety advice was provided to the public alongside highlighting the very real dangers of jumping into water from bridges.
