Autistic Pride Day 🧩 🌈 A day to celebrate autistic identity and recognise the unique strengths, perspectives and contributions that autistic people bring to our communities.

Pride is about more than awareness - it's about acceptance, understanding and making sure every person feels seen and valued for exactly who they are.

If you or someone you know is autistic and looking for local support, ASAAC - Autism Support Allerdale & Copeland is based right here in Workington and offers a welcoming space for autistic people and their families.

Their services include a Sensory Room, a Home Ed Hub and much more - all designed to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for the local community.

To find out what's on and how to get involved, visit: www.asaac.org

Men's Health Week | It can be easy to put yourself last, push through when things don't feel right or avoid the GP appointment you've been putting off. But looking after your health isn't a luxury - it's something that matters every single day.

Whether it's staying active, eating well, getting enough sleep, keeping on top of check-ups or simply talking to someone when things feel tough - small, consistent habits really do add up.

This week is a good reminder that it's okay to take your health seriously. And if you're not sure where to start, the Men's Health Forum has plenty of helpful resources and guidance.

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week, a reminder that loneliness is something that can touch any one of us - and that it's far more common than many people realise.

In England, 45% of adults feel occasionally, sometimes, or often lonely. That's around 25 million people.

Some of the statistics behind loneliness might surprise you:

πŸ’™ 16-29-year-olds are twice as likely as those over 70 to experience loneliness
πŸ’™ Half a million older people go at least five or six days a week without seeing or speaking to anyone at all
πŸ’™ Around 3.9 million older people say the television is their main company
πŸ’™ Loneliness and social isolation are linked to a greater risk of cognitive decline and dementia (Loneliness Awareness Week)

Loneliness doesn't always look the way we expect. It can affect people of any age, background or situation - and sometimes, a small moment of connection can mean more than we know.

If you're feeling lonely, or you're worried about someone else, the Loneliness Awareness Week website has a range of helpful resources: www.lonelinessawarenessweek.org

World Blood Donor Day | Blood donation saves lives every single day - and the need is constant. Here's why your donation matters:

🩸 4,300 blood donations are needed every day on average to meet hospital needs
🩸 Over 140,000 people are needed to donate for the first time this year
🩸 12,000 new Black heritage donors are urgently needed to meet the growing demand for ethnically matched blood for sickle cell patients who need regular transfusions
🩸 More young people aged 17-35 are needed to help ensure there is enough blood for the future (NHS)

If you've never donated before, it could be easier than you think. The NHS Blood website has everything you need to know - from blood types and who can give, to what to expect if it's your first time. It's a great place to start.

Could you help save a life this World Blood Donor Day? πŸ’™
