West Coast Thermal Ltd is Cumbria’s only specialised thermal insulation AND licensed asbestos removal company. Set up in 2000 by its current three Directors, WCT has rapidly expanded and now has over 30 employees which are based at our expanded offices in West Cumbria. Our staff are all local to West Cumbria – a fact that we are proud of and our continuous rolling programme of training ensures pro

fessional expertise in both fields. All our work is carried out to the highest standards which is borne out by the extensive client base we have built up over the years. Our clients include local authorities, councils, hospital trusts, housing associations, major construction companies, chemical plants, paperboard manufacturers, factories and, of course, the general public for smaller asbestos jobs and loft/roof insulation.

• THERMAL INSULATION – WCT have been a full time member of TICA (Thermal Insulation Contractors Association) for over 15 years. We take on a number of apprentices on an annual basis.
• ASBESTOS REMOVAL/REMEDIATION – WCT has held a full Asbestos License since 2001 which allows us to strip ANY type of asbestos – we are also members of ACAD (Asbestos Control & Abatement Division) of TICA.
• ASBESTOS SURVEYS/SAMPLING – We have been carrying out asbestos surveys to buildings since 2003 with 3No fully qualified Asbestos Surveyors who hold P402 Accreditation.
• FIRE PROOFING – WCT are in the process of achieving accreditation with FIRAS. HEALTH & SAFETY – WCT employ a full time Health & Safety Manager and are accredited to the following bodies:
1. CONSTRUCTIONLINE
3. RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents)
4. SMAS (Safety Management Advisory Services)

WCT have won various awards for our health & safety record/procedures. WCT are fully insured and hold a current asbestos waste carriers license.

West Coast Thermal Ltd would like to congratulate 1 of our Thermal Insulation Apprentices who has successfully passed his Level 2 Apprenticeship End Point Assessment. This consisted of observed individual practical tests, theoretical examinations and a structured interview focused on assessing his occupational behaviours and application of technical skills and knowledge which was verified by an independent external body from IETTL.

Harrison commenced his apprenticeship through TICA following his start with the company in July 2024. He has demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and developing his practical skills which is evident from the quality of work he is now producing.

Director, John Boughey, says “Apprenticeships help shape careers, strengthen industries and build a skilled workforce for the future. At West Coast Thermal Ltd., we are proud to invest in local young people who we see as a future asset to our company and its success.”
