✅ New Fire Safety Duties for Responsible Persons – Are You Ready for April 2026?
From 6 April 2026, the Fire Safety (Residential Evacuation Plans) (England) Regulations 2025 introduce important new responsibilities for Responsible Persons in high‑rise and certain medium‑rise residential buildings. These changes include the requirement to:
• Identify vulnerable residents who may struggle to evacuate independently and use “reasonable endeavours” to engage with them.
• Offer and complete a Person‑Centred Fire Risk Assessment (PCFRA) for any relevant resident who requests one. These assessments look at individual needs, evacuation challenges, and practical ways to improve safety.
• Develop tailored emergency evacuation measures, and share key information with local Fire & Rescue Services where needed. [s2partnership.co.uk] [stainessaf...ices.co.uk]
