This week is Learning Disability Week.

This year’s theme is “Do you see me?” and is all about people with a learning disability being seen, heard and valued.

At Worthing Homes, we want everyone in our communities to feel respected, included and listened to. Learning Disability Week is a chance to celebrate people with a learning disability, raise awareness, and think about the changes we can all make to be more inclusive.

It’s Drowning Prevention Week, a time to remind ourselves and our families how to stay safe around water.

Living by the coast means many of us spend time near the sea, especially as the weather gets warmer. Whether you’re heading to the beach, walking near water, swimming or enjoying time outdoors with children, please take a few minutes to read the Water Safety Code.

Remember to stop and think, stay together, call 999 in an emergency and float if you fall in or get tired.

If someone is in trouble at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Please do not enter the water to rescue someone.

Please share this advice with family, friends and neighbours to help keep our community safe.

We’re proud to share that Worthing Homes has once again achieved a Gold award in our 2025 SHIFT assessment 🥇

This year, we scored 69.45, up from 66.06 last year.

This award reflects the great work happening across Worthing Homes to improve sustainability, support our communities and reduce our environmental impact.

It is National Volunteers Week, and we want to say a huge thank you to all the brilliant volunteers who give their time, energy and care to support Worthing Homes and our communities.

To celebrate, we hosted a special afternoon tea at Palm Court Pavilion, bringing together volunteers from across Worthing Homes to recognise the difference they make.

From supporting community events to helping residents feel more connected, our volunteers play such an important role in making our neighbourhoods stronger, friendlier and more welcoming.

Thank you to everyone who came along, and to all our volunteers for everything you do. We really appreciate you.

We know many of our residents support family members, friends or neighbours, and we know how important it is to have access to the right advice.

Preparing for colder months, understanding energy use, keeping homes warm and knowing what support is available can all help people feel more confident at home. It also reflects our sustainability values, by supporting healthier, more efficient homes and helping residents make small changes that can reduce waste and manage energy use.

Getting Ready for Winter in Summer will bring together local organisations to offer practical advice on energy costs, financial support, wellbeing, dementia, hospital services and more!
There will be drop-in information stands, short talks, fun activities including seated football, and complimentary light refreshments.

A Board away day is a dedicated session where Worthing Homes’ Board steps away from regular meetings to focus on future plans, priorities and how the organisation can keep improving for residents.

Worthing Homes’ Board recently came together to look at where the organisation is now, what needs to improve and how good decisions can continue to be made for residents and communities.

Discussions included the recent regulatory inspection outcome, strengthening services and shaping future priorities. There was a strong focus on listening, learning and making sure improvements are part of everyday practice.

Thank you to the Board for their time, challenge and continued commitment to helping Worthing Homes improve.

Whether you’re an experienced filmmaker or trying it for the first time, this is your chance to bring your ideas to life and have your work screened in Worthing this September.

• Documentary – 60 to 90 minutes

This year’s theme explores sustainability and wellbeing.
